@Kapoteeni and @Mikey that first perk of Survial does come with added convenience, and in PvE and Singleplayer Survival is actually a viable Attribute, and some players such as yourselves like to sink points into it. I found I just kept wanting those points elsewhere. As Niliu becomes more proficient he will refine his own preferred loadout anyway. However given the mode of play, I wouldnt say Survival is a bad investment by any means.

There are many different specs or builds that people use for different aspects of the game. Yellow lotus potions or bestial memory potions allow you to change it frequently if you are performing different tasks. For instance, farming brimstone, stone, wood, etc. you want lots of encumbrance. Fighting world bosses, you want more strength, vitality, grit. Learn the perks (https://conanexiles.gamepedia.com/Attribute) and know how they can be used as tools to help you get the right job done

Didn’t die, I knocked him out with a blunted javelin, which also disappeared without a trace. I then roped him and dragged him back to base, hoping he would wake up, but he just kinda vanished. It never said “Dead” on him.

Thanks for explaining the DLC armour.

I never used the Yellow Lotus Potion until the last update that reset our Attributes and Feats. I forgot what I had set and didn’t reset them properly had to use the potion to do it over again. Since then I’ve used it a couple more times to go from building and crafting Feats to get some cool duds and furniture for my crib.

I like to consider myself a renaissance man  and had to hit the 1st Perk in all the attributes but when i’m ready for more combat I’ll reset to your recommendations, thanks.

This is great advice for SP offline. The drop items is more for PVP, as the reward for killing another player. In SP, it is more of headache.

Hah! So I logged in and my Thrall reappeared… and then a Croc Boss came into my base and killed him… I’m nowhere near a Croc Boss area. Weird bug, but ok.

were you online to witness this or did you discover it in the event log? could be you got purged.

that is quite strange but they have added 1 skull boss monsters that randomly spawn, sometimes creatures follow people a long ways. So hopefully you know about the purge and can get ready in case that is it.

I know it exists, never seen one. I’m not at the point where they start spawning.

That is quite alright regarding the Armour explanation Niliu. Im happy to help out.

Now regarding what happened with your thrall, that is really weird. I may just be freakishly lucky, but I have never actually knocked one of my own thralls out before. I was even more surprised when you said he reappeared later you home…and with a big Crocodile. T1 thralls especially have a high mortality rate, so just crank out a bunch more of them whenever you can. A Taskmaster thrall will reduce the amount of time it takes for slaves to break if you can find one. Im happy to tell you some spawn points if you would like?

Ps- I just think of the Purge as a big ‘bandit raid’, although occasionally with animals too. It is surprisingly fun. The Purge can be turned on and off in the Admin Panel at any time Niliu if you feel you are not ready for it yet. However for future reference, when your base is well established and guarded, it can be a great source of T4 thralls. Delivered straight to your door!

It’s possible that while dragging him you lost him in the desert. When a thrall is left far away from base for more than 15 minutes (not specifically placed somewhere), they will wander back to base (usually). And thralls/pets don’t take damage from NPC enemies unless a player is close, otherwise they just hit each other doing no damage.

It’s possible he woke up, then got teleported to your house. Not sure about the croc. I’ve had a player lure a Rotbranch to my base, but never had that happen on SP. Maybe (big maybe) he wandered and brought a friend along.

Thralls and pets in this game can be cool, but just assume that anytime you’re out with a thrall or interacting with a pet/npc/wild animal, it’s going to be a buggy mess. Don’t get too attached to anyone, because Funcom hasn’t quite figured out smooth interactions yet.

They can spawn anytime, I’ve been running along the river and turned the corner to a 1 skull croc at level 10.

A Purge I got a few weeks ago hit a little hut I had on an island in the middle of Noob River. I had forgotten about its existence since I hadn’t been there in months, and my Solo play has Decay turned off. I ended up having to build four Lesser Wheels of pain on that island between Purge waves, using materials looted from the attacking Purge NPCs, so I could “re-educate” the T4 thralls I knocked out during the Purge.

So if you want T4 thralls delivered to your door, make sure the door isn’t the only thing you have there…

I have never had good luck with the Purge and turned it off after I went through a few of them. My base was on a point on the south side of the river at J-4 across from Scanenger’s Berth. I built into the water a bit so I expected the Purge to spawn inside. I was not that well protected only had a couple fighting thralls but had most of my crafting stations manned with workers.

When the Purge striked nothing happened, there was no one to fight off inside or outside. After a few minutes I recieved my journey step for surviving it and a couple of the thralls in their crafting stations were ‘floating’ above their stations as if they were dead but were still in the station’s inventory. I just removed them and put them back and they went about their business like nothing happened.

I had a few small unmanned bases around the 1st time and went back and destroyed them all hoping that would help but I still got the same result with every Purge. The game said I was under attack but there was never anyone there.

I understand the Purge has improved with updates but I just keep forgetting to turn it back on and try it again. I really need some of those T4 Workers at my crafting stations.

Crafting station thralls are not alive, and cannot fight (or die, unless their crafting station is destroyed). Just FYI since it sounds like you might not be aware of that? The “floating” bug is unrelated to the Purge, it just happens from time to time, and as you found, removing them and placing them back resolves it.

@Croms_Faithful Ok, think I’m finally getting on track here. Have 3 fighter Tralls training at the moment, 1 at my Lesser Wheel, 2 at my Standard. Gonna nuke the lesser once the guy is done, and grab a couple archers for the other wheel. Have a Shellback on the way at the “Rein Beast Pen”.

Have Steel tools now, have to level up more for the weapons though. I am using a Stygian Spear though, so that’s helped a lot.

I have 1 faction armour set, for the Darfari. Seems to be the only set I have that’s better than what I currently have, but it needs Thick Hide, which is where I’m running into some issues.

My Atts are now: Str 10, Agi 10, Vit 22, Acc 0, Grit 0, Enc 10, Surv 0(+5)

Ok Niliu Im glad to hear you are starting to dominate buddy. Your animal and thrall strategies are sound at this point. And your Attribute loadout is solid for a player at your level. A couple of things regarding pets and thralls which you may or may not know, but come in handy. If you feed them their preferred food (pictured in their inventories) after breaking/taming, they will gain a 25% damage bonus when attacking. This wont be obvious to look at until they are in actual combat, when you will notice they have a small ‘fist’ icon above their health. Now regarding healing. If you are a kind master would like to heal your thralls, you can do so by shooting them with Healing Arrows. These are unlocked via Specialist Ammunition II in the feats, BUT not until level 38 unfortunately. Furthermore, for some strange reason they dont appear to work on pets (Funcom if you are reading please consider changing this). Both of these are purely optional, just though I would let you know.

Now regarding that Thick Hide you seek! There are a few possibilities to obtain this, which I will go over. Two of which will involve mounting an expedition into new areas which I think you should be able to manage, the other (untested) could work from home. Some of the most common enemies which drop Thick Hide are: Gorillas, Elk Kings, Rhinos, Bears and Elephants. I recommend targeting either the first or third. Locations:

1) Gorillas: head east and into the Jungle biome friend. They are scattered throughout most of the Jungle. But especially around coordinates N,5 and N,6 The Lost City of Xel-Ha. There are 2 types, a Grey Ape who is fairly close to the same size as a man, and the larger black Gorillas. Only the larger black ones give Thick Hide. Because of their size they look imposing, but as with all primates in the game, they are actually really slow moving and easy to dodge. In fact almost all of the creatures in the Jungle are fairly manageable, so when you decide to test your metal against another biome, the Jungle is the best place to start.

2) Rhinos: head north-west to Sepermeru the human city. If you spoke to Arcoss the Wanderer near The Sentinels, you may remember he mentioned this city, time to have a look see. It is basically to the left of the Unnamed City biome (large redrish orange patch on the map) starting at coordinates B,6 on the map and stretching further northward. Easier route is to head west past the bottom of the Unnamed City THEN north (not vice versa). There are always Rhinos on the plain outside the city. They do move faster than Gorillas and hit harder, but drop more Thick Hide. Their main attck to watch for is a charge after pawing the ground (dodge then back/side blows). Also whenever you do go here you can look around Sepermeru. It is a treasure trove of resources early on. Almost 90% of its inhabitants will not attack you unless you instigate violence. There are a few pockets of (tough) Bandits there, but I would just just run away from them. There is also a large number of chests throughout the city, and looting them does NOT get you into trouble. Finally it has a number of Merchants who you can buy items off, including Bear and Elephant hides to convert into Thick Hide. However, they are expensive and you dont get much for your money.

3) Convert regular Hide at the Armourers Bench(!?): I honestly didnt know about this until this morning. But apparently the Armourers Bench has an option to convert 4 Hide & 1 Twine into Thick Hide. Same can be done with any Bear, Elephant and Rhino hides too. Cannot confirm this personally. This would be the safest way if you are still a bit unsure about an expedition yet. Either way if you havent build one yet, spend some Feat points on a Skinning Knife, as it will net you a lot more hides than an Hatchet or Pick.

Whether you mount the expedition now or not, both areas are great areas to visit when you are feeling ready, be it now or a bit later down the track. Just keep a Bedroll or 2 for mobile spawn points, and a Bed back at home, so that if you feel youre in over your head, you can bail easily.

PS- here is a great map of the Exiled Lands if you dont already have one. Sorry for the wall of text.

I don’t see the option to make Thick Hide, maybe you need the more advanced bench to do it?

Yeah its new to me. I really dont know what the deal is with this one @Niliu, I had never seen it before this morning, let alone used it. I read it on the official Gamepedia site (see below), listed in the sources tab. It says the regular Armourers Bench. Unless maybe it needs a pre-requisite of some kind or a T4. Im at work at the moment so cant check it out, but I will when I get home. But if anyone else can confirm/shed some light on this conversion beforehand, by all means.

EDIT: I just realised that it says we need a T4 Purge Armourer (darn it) to do no.3. So I think you may have to mount an expedition here buddy. You would be around level 30 now wouldnt you Niliu…!? The official Gamepedia site recommends level 20-40 for the Jungle, and you are right in between (spot on for the Desert). So I would try and give it a trial run. Good luck Niliu, and let me know how you go hey. And if you have follow up questions. And I noticed that even with my T4 Armourer I dont have that Thick Hide option…strange.
