"New Base Feats"

“New Base Feats” as in selected feats you can choose upon creating a character. Like choosing to be a Blacksmith and have more knowledge of smithing and such, or being an Armorer and able to strip hides on the go, that kind of thing. Only one can be selected when making a character. Thoughts?

Dev’s have mentioned internal discussions regarding Conan Exile’s trend toward Survival, or RPG game. As if they are deciding (slowly) to lean more towards RPG, and stray out of the Survival Sandbox. It would be great if they furthered character development, and allowed for more permanent structures so the game felt more like a MMORPG. As that segment of the market is turned off by the decay timer and losses that come with it. (Nobody ever quit WoW because all their stuff vanished).

Funcom would do well to pursue the RPG side of Conan Exiles. They already have the survival, PvP, and sandbox stuff down pretty solid.

You know when I first read this I was hesitant. However, it wasnt until later at work I though just how this could actually add some cool possibilities. I started to view the base feats as being a bit like a ‘perk card’ as we have in Fallout76. While we had one actice it could provide some unique possibilities. For example, choosing Blacksmith as a base feat could allow us to create ‘mastercrafted’ weapons (a tier above flawless. Ir Cook could grant us a handful of new and more potent healing foods. Carpenter, some new or unique craftable furniture items and/or reduced repair costs. And so forth. Unfortunately as Shadoza already noted, Funcom didnt really wat us to have any unique special considerations implemented in the game. One alternative is that the base feats could work similarly to Skyrims blessing system, with only one active at a time. Although I have no idea how it could be conferred in-game, or the level of difficulty involved in implementing such a thing…

Yeah, my thoughts went along the same lines as Shadoza’s and I immediately started thinking how this could be tied to God altars, which are currently admittedly somewhat limited in utility, compared to the level of effort it takes to upgrade them.

So maybe the Blacksmithing perk could be tied to Crom’s altar, wink wink nudge nudge @Croms_Faithful.

Perhaps the god blessing could work as a mini-cloak, were you have/ware it and you don’t get attacked by the same like minded NPC you chose yog, derketo etc. you can go to there camps.

Oh Kapoteeni you say the most wonderful things. How on earth could I not get behind that. Some religious necklaces would be a very nice addition, even if poor Crom does miss out again.
