I have been grinding my butt off since the release of the leveling system to obtain the best Thralls imaginable. Prior to the update I measured my old Relic hunters times on various bosses with the Crom sword and god breaker armor. I newly created several level 20 Thralls and found that perfect relic hunters at level 20 were faster by about 10 seconds per boss. So it seemed that the purpose of leveling system is to make it harder to earn your old Thralls back and not to give you better ones.
fast forward to my first berserker Purge. I had four level 20 berserkers with crom swords and strength armor. Also a few extra level 10ish berserkers with lesser gear. I was attacked by the new berserker purge in new asgarth. I watched in horror as the first wave of the purge slaughtered my level 20s like they were noob beach Thralls. I was fairly disappointed at the performance of my Thralls but the purge itself was very cool and a much needed update. I of course lost my T3 mini castle and but I gained the knowledge that high level Thralls aren’t as beastly as the hype train made them out to be.
The suggestion: instead of nerfing the followers, how about you just increase the difficulty of leveling them up? When I cap out a Thrall I expect it to be able to survive end game content. The thrall nerf patch hasn’t hit me yet as I play on PS4…but it does scare me.
havent checked since nerf 2 days ago but thrall damage was beyond broken, especially the fact that archers aimbot you and never miss unless you juke. i hope they are nerfed hard now, even before this big update thrall damage was way too high, 2h sword thralls (not even crom) did 95% of someone’s hp with 40 vit and 65% armor.
I don’t know how the AI is on your platform is… but my “op” Thralls spend most of their time attacking walls or shooting at the moon until i’m out of arrows. It’s ridiculously easy to acid kill Thralls to the point where i’m Questioning if leveling them is even worth it. I’ve always preferred a quality over quantity approach but I think maxing out the limit is a necessity at this point.
I’m all for the leveling system as long as it adds value… so far it seems to have taken value from me and is rationing it back to me via the random feat rolls lol. I don’t think there is a problem with gaining more powerful Thralls and more powerful gear. We as players want to feel like we are progressing and when there is nothing left to do we quit. The solution is to power up the players and add NEW difficult pve content. What is better… raising the difficulty of old content you already completed or adding a new wave of super difficult content?
