New idea for bonuses on armor

How about instead of this set does this and that set does that have options based on type of armor.

For Light armor, you can select Agility or Accuracy bonuses.
For Medium; Encumberance, Survival, And Grit
For Heavy; Strength and Vitality.

You can. You just don’t get bonuses for it from your armor because heavy armor is bulky and akward with limited mobility and helms typically have limited visibility. You could still build an archer and put all of the points into Vit.

So basically making it more like almost every other adventure RPG?

That’s some deep thinking there…

hey shuddup you But seriously yeah and there was a point to that standard and it had balance therein because the strengths and weaknesses were defined. You could tank up and be a slow behemoth or a quick agile twig but each had their merits. The current system is out of sync with the majority of players because FC tried to make armor separate from the stat bonus and therefore people are mixing it to gain all perks of the Adventure RPG tank class in an agile movement.

does it not make sense because it affects your playstyle or is there a logical reason?

No one is stopping you from breaking the molds though. You just aren’t going to get the same level of perks that you would from armor that just makes more sense for the gain. I have played various RPG’s on the 'puter and TT and shattered molds. Its fun to play the troll wizards…but why is it fun? Because it breaks the mold and you don’t get the same advantages that someone that tailors their character creation to that.

Sometimes many means it works. It is okay to try and reinvent something, but even better to realize that it did not need reinventing.

balance. In efforts to remove the class RPG mold, the balance was also removed. Now everyone and their dog is an assasin style all wearing the same stuff because there is no negatives to it. They all build tanks with agile mobility and so interactions with other players are just stagnant without thought. Please tell me I’m not the only one that notices that my servers look identical to the pvp youtubes that you see online. Same freaking builds, same freaking armor sets, same tactics, same trash talks…in a game where you can have over 3 million combinations of armor and countless stat builds…we see the same junk over and over and over again. Why? Because these builds have no counter. Why? Because balance is skewed.

it brings a price to the advantage yes. Each has a weakness that can be exploited. Conan has yet to provide this in their structure and this is why it’s just an escalation of traits to get people exited vs a new balanced addtion to the game for people to play with and see if it fits their game play better.

Apparently that memo didn’t get to the PVP crowds on official.

I think what’s being talked about is a mechanism to further promote and define “character classes”. Some people like this a lot, others, not so much. As it is in CE it’s not hard-wired in any way and remains a user specifiable range. The request the OP is asking for wires it to the armor class. So still dynamic but less so, and tied to an external condition - armor type - instead of armor lore (or whatever you call the distinctions between Kahri and Cimmerian for example).

I dunno if I have an opinion… I kinda like it as it is TBH…

And of course, there’s about a 0% chance FC would change it…

Would limit builds too much imo. Too many builds you can do that mix and match outside of that list

Fiiiine. I’ll just deal with everyone looking like back alley trash with oversized warhammer helmets.

How do we keep the advantages of armor with increasing the variations for people without it getting abused to the n-th degree?

I agree that this list minimizes choice, but lets not act like a majority of the base does not already do that with armor and go full meta. Sure some will avoid it (i do) but only because i am too lazy to update my excel sheet to get the best dps and protection of the moment.

I odn’t hate this idea, but I actually think (not sure) that the armour sets are already roughly weighted in that direction? There are more light agility armours than heavy ones, more heavy vitalities than light for example. More medium encumbrances than other types. If they were distributed how you suggested, but with at least one of each weight class available for each stat, that would accommodate everyone.

The problem is I reckon everyone would still just do what they’re doing. Because Siptah gear outclasses EL gear, legion and dragon armours vary too much between pieces, and thrall crafting bonuses are so high that you can mix and match easily to optimise.

I feel like I just wrote two paragraphs and said nothing :man_facepalming:

do you just sit around and think up ideas to make this game even worse

No of course not. I specifically think of what you would hate the most and then promote that.

It is a creative corner, so don’t stone me because I did not think about it for days, only a minute, but her me out!

What if -let’s say armor stat bonuses would remain the same, but less, so +1 for every one -only expection should be probably epic heavy (chest/leg) pieces with a T4 that would grant with +2- AND they would give an extra bonus for wearing all of the 5 parts of the same armor? So if you mismatch your outfit, you won’t get that extra oomph. Anything from an exra +3 points for being just as good as the original state, as it is now, to extra 5 points in that same attribute, or a different one.
Of course, special armors such as Bearer pack, Witch doctor mask, Godbreaker chestpiece, Serpent/wolf stuff, etc. would be untouched, so if you still decide on mixmatching your outfit, you wouldn’t be castrated completely.
