You either have to place two ending points which are then connected by a small twine or placing multiple of these close enough to each other connects all of them with small twine.
This would help on certain building spots or evaluating the center of these.
They shouldn‘t have any collision or prevent building and should automatically disappear after probably 10 minutes.
Can you be a little more specific, my English is not so perfect, still i smell something good here. Please give me some more examples to understand exactly why you need this tool. Thank you.

I understood our friend wants to do as in reality.
Before putting stones or bricks on the ground, he want to put some sort of wooden sticks and twine to have an idea of how will be the situation of his future building!!!

Tis could be very simple: the same buidings pieces, but very cheap, build with light wooden sticks and twine. To make a first assembly and check… before building.
