New player here - some questions

Hi, im a new player from EU.

I just started at the Fury server , but i cant find other players.

Is it better for me to start at the PVE server? I like pvp alot..

While there’s still some Pvp in Age of Conan it’s few and far between now. Fury’s pop is in the 2 digit range and people have reported making it up to lvl 40 before they ever see another player, pretty much all of which are lvl 80’s.

The pop on Crom is better and the game is more active during EU hours, but you’re probably only looking at Pvp during the monthly Pvp week ‘festival’ which starts on the last Wed of each month I think (that or the last week).

You have multiple ways of PVPing when on Crom (PVE).

Monthly week long PVP events with multiple quests for each.
5-6 different minigames you can que for at any time.
The entirety of the Border Kingdoms, with temple/fort and castle/keep action.

AoC has the same problem many mmos have after they cut down to a smaller staff. While we do have events and sometimes updates, we can still have some new content every year. But beyond that, nothing more. And that is fine because any new player can play daily have 5-10 years of fun enjoying themselves.

But the real problem is there is no marketing whatsoever. Not any that counts. Any ads or promotions, are only directed toward people already playing other MMOs and not the hundreds of millions of potential players that have no idea AoC still exists, ever existed or what the game is like.

Marketing the game to the jaded, bitter, burnt out veterans of other MMOs does nothing for the game. We get a trickle of angry players that complain about everything and refuse to play the full game. And what we need is fresh blood.

We could EASILY get another 10,000 to 100,000+ players playing within a year, if they just promoted the game properly. And it wouldn’t even be expensive.

AoC is a massive game with tons of content to enjoy. But the players need to actually slow down and play the game. Stop making dozens of characters and rushing to level. Focus on just one or two and participate in all the activities and content.

Every player can que for a minigame when they log in. And just play ONE when it pops. Just doing that will get them busy again. Every player can join groups for dungeons and raids. They just need to reach out to others or join the groupfinder.

But there are a lot of lazy veterans who only do certain things and ignore the rest of the game.

Many players across all MMORPGs forget they are playing an RPG and they are supposed to TAKE THEIR TIME and adventure through ALL OF IT. But players will rush to level and grind so much that they sabotage their own experience so much they can’t even find enjoyment anymore.

For those that are around, theres plenty to do and join. And many are doing the right things. But without any marketing or even social media promotions, there isn’t much that can be done.

I’m sick of publishers giving up on games and losing tens of millions of dollars because they are lazy. All they need to do is cover the expense for servers and start advertising to non-gamers and regular pc gamers. We need players that will appreciate the full game and not whine as soon as they get here.

Age of Conan could easily be in the top 5 mmorpgs if they just put in some effort. And I would happily take over the marketing effort if someone from funcom would reach out. I own a design agency in nyc and have 25+ years experience.
