New & Returning players after ~1 year

Hey there!

So I’m a player with about 250 hours in the Exiled lands, and I decided to load up my favorite Survival/Crafting game again for the first time in about a year; and I brought friends!

BUT, this game has changed… a lot. To be honest, it’s changed so much that I don’t even really know how to efficiently farm mats anymore. Leveling seems to take forever, PvE combat seems impossibly difficult now and I cant take thralls for the life of me. I managed to grind (miserably) up to 60, but even with Epic armors and (previously) meta weapons, I cant seem to do any sort of combat against the environment. I just cant fight Saber-cats or more than one human at a time.

I remember clearing New Asagarth for Thralls relatively easily before, but now its nearly impossible to fight them off with the same gear; even upgraded. I can understand making the game’s environment more deadly for level-capped players, but this is ridiculous.

tl;dr: I haven’t played in about a year and it seems really hard now to do anything. Am I doing something wrong? Shouldn’t things be easier with endgame gear?

ALSO: Fish traps don’t work anymore?

Yes, I’m on an official server. I suppose I can review the server settings?

  • You have to put bait in fish traps now??

I’m surprised nobody mentioned it and you’ve probably figured this out already, but you’re supposed to play with your thrall doing most of the work these days.

Start by capturing a tier 3 fighter preferably, and work up from there. By the time you nab a Janos, Cimmerian Beserker or the like (check melee multipliers on the wiki) you can waltz through Set city easily, however new Asagarth is more difficult.

I feel like you also need epic armor and weapons? Is the spear still the defacto best weapon for clearing thralls? What should I equip to Janos?

At level 60, this is the way.

Nope. :upside_down_face:

I read there are thralls that only use preferred weapon types efficiently. You’ll have to experiment.

At the moment because they’re bugged, however I’ve equipped new thralls that came with a great sword WITH a greatsword and they would only perform light attack combos. Maces and great hammers seem to get heavy attack combos though.
