No future and deader than a runover skunk

Read funcom’s annual report. The only mention of SWL is that they shortened the amortization period (how long they expect the game to last) from 5 years from 12/31/19 to 3 years.

Their own fault

An amortization period is how long it will take to pay off the investment. So saying MMOs have a 5 year period normally, but “After a thorough assessment the amortization period of Age of Conan and Secret World Legends was reduced to three years, better reflecting the current situation of the industry and the games”.
(link page 70)

So they actually think that the investment will be paid off faster, which would seem to be a good thing.

It is nice that some people have an abundance of brain cells to make up for those who are lacking in this area.

This topic was dumb the first time you posted it and it’s evidently still dumb now :v:

Wrong. The amortization period is how long is the asset’s remaining life. If you think there is more income in that game and they will be making money faster, you are living in an alternative reality.

Do you understand the difference between an amortization schedule and the payback period? Do you think the game revenue has increased the past year? Try using your brain cells.

I suggest you try using the power of google to recheck your assumption, because you’re wrong. Amortization is a factor regarding the investement in development. It’s not a reflection of the game’s longevity, it’s purely financial.
