No reason to farm Meteors now!

Yeap that it is and not more and devs hear this cry fake newser and lising but not on the real bugs

Yep, I can harvest all normal mobs. I’m about to start on my T3 complex. It’s just the boss mobs, and meteors (both normal and event). It’s not a game breaker, I’m just missing out on some things.

Unlike some others, I’m having a lot of fun. The game world is huge, the level to detail on many things is beyond impressive. I just seem to be missing out on some of the fun is all

Mine is also there i just call it greenland :stuck_out_tongue:
as for the one you saw it was a bit further, that one is at savannah but wouldn’t recommend that spot rather look for less agro zones

@ lecivius which bosses?

Thanks, dont want to be chased by elephants, rhinos n tigers (oh my) all at the same time.

Which of course has happened many times, especially when I was trying to catch baby elephants, which I now know you cant. lol

Halycon and me have been reporting this isse as well!
Tascha even replied to that.

Later two more left their experience as well:

And a few more people have experienced the same bug on #1200.
Since it’s the same old bug yet again (as I said, back in testlive I think with trees, bushes and such and later with starmetal) a lot of people swiftly understood how that bug “works” or rather how one can at least gather up to 3/4 of the meteorites (sometimes only 1/4 though).

Tipp for everyone:
Set render/sight distance to max (tune everything down to low if you need to) and then wait at :01, :21 or :41 for those meteors at their areas. You need to be present for meteors to spawn correctly. Try to sit in the mid of said area and pray not to get hit.

Btw, even if you arent there, the meteors will “spawn” - but as unharvestable and invisible nodes!
One can run through the mist and get stuck there for a split second - just like it was when trees and else resource nodes have been vanishing after the first hit - back then it’s been the same; heck, one could even be propely trapped in them.

Though I really think the devs should implement an server setting which then applies on every event to come as well. Eighter turn on or off - lots of people seem to demand that. And the possibility to turn it off wont hurt official servers. Hopefully it’s possible in the way I would think about it. Like giving each event the same attribute or however that works which then is linked to said setting where one can simply turn events off.

I’m on Xbox server 2504 pve and I’ve gotten nothing I run to where the meteors drop and only the effects are there not any node to hit so yeah you guys are lucky

Official server 2504 pve

By the way.
I like that event!
The sound of the doors, the bats flying out
And I absolutely love the sight of black ice buildings in that light!
Not to mention areas as well

It seems that you need to be close the area the meteor are dropped. I saw the meteor dropping not so far away and I run to it. There was about 9 sparkling lights around, the 3 closest to me there was meteor stones to harvest but the others were just sparkling lights.

au contraire mon frere

There is no reason to do anything but farm the meteors at this time

I got 15 rocknose eggs, 30 cooked abysmal flesh, 15 dragonpowder, 25 legendary repair kits, 34 black dyes, 22 white dyes, 27 skeleton keys, 11 red dragon heads, 67 gold coins, 39 silver coins, 55 demon-fire orbs, 7 star metal picks, 32 dragon lures, 51 star metal bars, 19 dragonhorns and various other crap including a ridiculous amount of ironstone and smaller amounts of obsidian, silverstone and goldstone. And that’s just me camping up one spot for 2 hours of time.

Um no you didn’t ! Not today at least.

Console hasn’t been patched yet.

If I could give you some of my keys & stuff I would, and I’m sorry you missed out on what you wanted, truly. I don’t think they needed to remove the uber loot completely, just make it drop more reasonably. The rare chance for a skele key would have kept the meteors much more exciting. Nerf too strongk.

I think it’s important to understand that in MMOs, grinding is a substantial portion of the game. Whether you’re grinding resources to build bases or better tools, grinding mobs for XP, or grinding quests towards an epic quest, it’s about delayed gratification and working towards a goal. It gives meaning to placing those resources on the line in PVE or PVP combat.

Simply put, abundant end-game loot short-circuits the game, eliminating a non-trivial portion of the game for many players. The presence of skeleton keys turned legendary weapons from rare and valuable to commodity items. Pre-made star metal picks were dropping in such quantities that no one had to worry about other types.

Balance is really f’ing difficult to achieve and for any set of values, you’re only going to appeal to a certain percentage of players. It’s a dilemma faced by every game designer and one they spend days and weeks deliberating over.

Funcom copped a lot of flak for the literal showers of loot that were occurring and had to act quickly to avoid alienating a lot of players. I agree, removing those items completely was probably unnecessary, I probably would’ve adjusted the frequency so that they gave players a reason to chase meteors but those powerful items remained very rare, but given the time pressure I really can’t condemn the actions they took.

I am confident that there will be a meeting or two to deconstruct the halloween event. They’ll learn from the experience and put those lessons to use in future events and development.

Nail, meet hammer head.

Maybe @Nuria can help shed some light on a potential workaround?

Definitely!

If I understood correctly s/he sees the nodes but cannot harvest them? Thats a first for me.
I think for most people its the other way around. Sure, if one had been more or less near, there is smoke and invisible+unharvestable nodes, but no node to harvest.
For those, setting sight distance to max and camping the area helps a lot.

Though actually
It’s only a first for this event.
I had that back in EA, when resourcenodes would not “despawn” for me.
They werent really there, but I had the visuals of them. Of course my client behaved as if they were there, blocking my path. But on attempted harvest, there is nothing to gather from those nodes.
Basically for whatever reason I guess those nodes got loaded in in a bad way? I honestly dont know the background of that.
Havent experienced that myself since
 march?
I couldnt willingly fix it myself and I dont know what caused that to disappear. At least not 100%.
I had gone into nvidia center and switched physx from cpu to gpu and vice versa - had a chance of ~75% to work
(Even though several people said that wouldnt make sense at all.)

All I can repeat: .NET had caused one nasty issue. It made my whole system unstable, even moving the mouse could cause a bluescreen. (Totally random of course!)
I dont remember wether I didnt see that issue with harvest nodes anymore since I deleted .net 4.1 or if it was “solved” by installed the combat update back in EA. Sorry.

This is not an MMO, and there is no end game loot. Someone got 50 star metal picks? Who cares? Without the ability to repair them, that’s a weeks worth of mining. And if you can repair them, you only need one. Skeleton keys? Big whoop. There are less than 10 legendaries that are worth using. And by the time you’re high enough to even open a chest, you can farm keys at will every 15 minutes.

Everything in this game is farmable at will, save for T4 thralls. I whole heartedly don’t understand anyone complaining about the loot

I tested this on ps4 last nite it’s not a big issue I don’t think it’s a proximity issue I keep finding the same partial effects but no meteor so I timed it out it’s about every 15 mins on PS4 plus I have to b close enough to the meteor crash on official servers by the mitra shrine I can be no further than half the distance that’s rendered in front of me so from godspire to the mitra trainer any further I just get partial effects that far or closer in in loot tested this over an over again last nite for 3 hrs
