"Not responding" when I click play or join

Game mode: Singleplayer and Multiplayer
Type of issue: Crash
Server type: All types
Region: America

Started the game up for the first time, every thing seemed alright until I try to play single player or multiplayer. When I click Play on single player or Join for multiplayer the game immediately stops responding. Tried servers with and without mods, deleted mods from game files, still couldn’t join a server. Same thing happens when I click on mods on the home menu

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Click Join server, game stops responding
  2. Click Play for single payer, game stops responding
  3. Click mods tab on home screen, game stops responding
