Not wanting to get suspended again

I dont think you guys understand why players picked officals over coop and private. Personally I do not truest private admins with power trips and coop is boring without showing or testing your bases. They should just make a officals with no rules compare to a server with rules and see which gets and stays populated longer.

I repeat I rather deal with undermesher, ddoser and pork thralls instead of Tos gray rules that the punishment is way to extreme compare to the rest.

They already have that data, and for anyone who’s watched the population on a month to month basis. Their rules in the last year have had no negative effect. Arguably its had a positive one.

To say otherwise is to claim that the number of new players far exceeds that of the ones who have left. That requires faith that I don’t personally have.

But if you want a no rules official server, a few official-likes exist. Ran by people who want exactly what you want and have promised no admin interaction. Their word is as good as yours.

it’s incredible to me that some people are still tryin to defend funcom when funcom wipes builds like this

@Umborls srs question you ever play this game on official pvp? pls live stream your game play im so curious on how you play

Builds like what? That is pretty massive and is that the same base off on the distance connecting Islands that barely rendered?

massive? LOL thats not even 1500 pieces

To me that typically sits at 600 per crafting base…that’s massive.

Not to mention the build up at watchers and you failed to answer me about that bridge in the distance. I don’t believe that is only 1500 it you include the watcher spot.

that entire screen shot with the buildings next to the watcher down the mountain and in the water and along the beach is 1500 pieces max lmao.

Of course…if I don’t build like everyone else, clearly I must not pvp…well I don’t pvp like you do. I have made that quite known that I refuse to play the macho bs that plagues the servers but I solely play on official pvp servers.

And you still haven’t said anything about the bridge that is barely rendering in the pick…is that part of this clan or not?

thats not even a bridge man. thats sht not rendering properly in this game because the screenshot has fog removed zzz

1,500 pieces isn’t alot.

The amount of space that base takes up, is. If it was just the two structures in the lower right, it’d be fine, especially if you used those pieces on a landbased build and used them to go vertical instead of spread out.

the space that base takes up is smaller than building the entire inside of the deserters gutter lol

I agree with Foggy on this one. This is one of the images I was SHOCKED (and appalled) to see being used as a reference example. It’s a tiny little thing (count the block dimensions!!! 8-block diameter for the nearest island pad and 12 for the bigger one. On the hill is 12x6x6. The longest dock is 8x1 with a 2-block diameter bungalow at the end) and the land it takes up is also tiny!

When I saw that being used by @Umborls I wanted to grab him by the lapels and give a good shake. It’s a clarification… we asked for clarifications… so thanks… but my gawd!!! Ya know, there is the “spirit of the rules” but there is also the “spirit of why people asked for the rules” AND THIS AIN’T IT!

I do believe he received that message from us already though so we’ll see how all that plays out. He said he was willing to reconsider a few things so we can’t actually judge from this alone. But that yet again leaves us wondering and wanting clarification. Did he reconsider? If so on what points? We have no input from them yet (or should I say: yet again?).

Also even though Akomo isn’t doing a real good job of making his/her points I think I agree there too. If FC can be specific enough to say “…such as dungeons, obelisks, …” then they can expand on that a bit without nerfing their magic buffer of foggy understanding. Yes, of course, the bit about boss spawns is easily deduced - but what about 5 alligator spawn points? What about one? What about one where the 1-skull-gator spawns 10% of the time?

They may not need to expand their ToS to cover every minute detail but I think we need some mechanism for feedback on this kinda stuff. Questions need a place to be asked and promptly answered BEFORE the ban hammer drops. And if not that, then yeah, some sort of warning process for these edge cases where it absolutely is NOT common sense. This image is a perfect example of that - where the only point of ToS contention is regarding the forum-clarified notion of “structure intent and purpose”. Not good enough FC, please try harder!

I am not sure why you replied to me and then started to talk about an image that @Foggy posted when that had nothing to do with anything I was talking about (and in fact was posted well after my post). The only point that I was making is that Caffeine is going out of their way to argue in bad faith over something that they know is wrong and or they are purposefully trying to say “well they didn’t ‘specifically say XYZ explicitly therefore’” which is utter nonsense. That is 1st grade level nonsense.

Now what you are talking about, asking for more clarification on things that have nothing to do with world boss spawn but are more in line with the question foggy proposed, I can fully understand why you would ask for that. Clarifying something vague like “don’t build too big” is fine to ask for.

My only assumption as for the issue with the image posted by foggy, and again this is purely an assumption, is based on this post by @Umborls
" Walls and Villages
This can be considered an extreme version of decorative land claim. The issue here is not the size of the base, but the function of the individual buildings. It is in the same spirit of a web of foundations, but players take the time to make the structures appear from the outside to be a functional part of their base. Player buildings that heavily focus on roleplaying can often fall under this category." Link to the original thread
Is that enough to warrant a wipe? idk. Is that enough to warrant a ban? I personally would say no. But I’ve always been of the opinion of wipe without ban is sufficient for first and probably second offense. And as long as things remain nebulous, wipe without ban should remain regardless.

That base was inside the ruins at the top of the mountain and then trailed down to the beach and into the water, the maproom is actually underwater which was a neat idea. This was also not the only base that the clan had on the server. I know this because I am on the server that base was on and am friends with the person that built that base.

The clan that is associated with that picture did not get a ban, they just got a wipe of all of their bases. I play on the server that base was on and am friends with the builder of that base.

On that same server I was issued a ban without a wipe because I had foundation pieces with lighting spaced around my base to light up the area during a purge, that was considered land claim even though that was why I built the lighting. I was able to get my ban reversed by talking with FC and removed the pieces that caused my ban and then set about moving my whole base to a new location. So not every person receives both ban and wipe together, I think it depends on the admin looking at the case and the severity of the offense.

The thing is…it depends on the server function…look I’ll be the first to tell you that their little blurb about decorative land claim is directed at my type of play…it is land claim to prevent others from land claim and therefore wrong but my artistic side just couldnt deal with putting up crap webbing so I make a village instead. It serves no purpose but to look pretty and prevent people from sealing me in. So I commend they thought of that because it’s no different than webbing as far as pvp goes. PvE? Yeah they need some leaway there because that is more about art than about function.

That is fantastic information. I’m glad to hear that they are not always issuing double punishment all the time because there really is no need to do so. And it’s all encouraging to hear that they can, on occasion, reverse a decision when presented a valid logical discussion. I am glad that you got your ban reversed.

Come on. There are bushes, rocks and tree everywhere. They are not « scarce » and FUNCOM already said a bunch of times that bushes, rocks and trees are not included in the « game content » they mention in TOS since they are everywhere and it would simply be impossible to not block any of them.

What they mean it pretty obvious. If there’s only a few spawn of something, don’t block it. Don’t block npc camps. Don’t block dungeons entrance. Don’t block most roads. Don’t block obelisks. Don’t block the whole brimstone lake. Don’t block boss spawns. These are easy to spot and most of the map is, as previously mentionned, only trees, bushes and rocks.
