Official PVE-C 1036 being systematically attacked by purge griefers

Official server pve-c 1036 had a pretty healthy population up to 2 weeks ago, with around 15-25 players online in the evenings and even some sort of community, catering for builders as well as for pvp players.

2 weeks ago 2 players arrived on the server, complaining about lag and assuming a self proclaimed server police role and started attacking bases with the purge. Since then they have been completely erasing 1-3 bases a day, causing affected players to report them, but as no action is being taken, to ultimatively quit the game, having stuff erased, that some of them have been built in some cases over years.

They have been reported numerous times but nothing is happening, with some players resorting to the same method to hit back at them, worsening the situation further.

To put the cherry on top, the server is being regularly crashed, I assume with the golem method and said players employing hacks or glitches to get into bases and kill people inside it.

In 2 weeks, the server has developped from a relaxing, fun environment into accusations flying in the chat, rogue purges being used to hurt other players and bases being destroyed on a daily basis.

I reported them as well and all I got was a quality of service feedback mail and that was it.

If this continues on, this thriving server will be dead in a matter of weeks.

Thanks FC

I can confirm… a few already left, and someone mentioned yesterday hes leaving the server as well.

@Funcom the simple way to solve this is for the purge only to attack the player/base/thralls who started the purge.

Other bases including thralls should completely ignore the purge and the purge need to ignore other bases and guarding thralls (except the players and its followers we would want to be able to co-operate).

I’m another player from PvE-C server 1036 and I want to add my own perspective here.

I won’t repeat what has already been explained above, but I can confirm that the atmosphere on the server has changed dramatically over the past couple of weeks.

For a long time, 1036 was a rare kind of server where players managed to maintain a respectful balance between builders and PvP players. Many of us invested a lot of time into our bases and into maintaining a friendly environment where people could simply log in after work and enjoy the game.

Watching that environment collapse so quickly has been incredibly frustrating.

Another thing that has become very noticeable is the instability of the server during confrontations. Several times when I tried to engage these players in normal PvP, I was suddenly disconnected or the server crashed. When reconnecting, they somehow manage to return before others and kill players before they can properly log back in. I can’t say what causes this, but the timing has been extremely suspicious.

For many of us, our free time is the most valuable thing we have. Seeing months — sometimes years — of players’ effort disappear like this is simply discouraging.

I’m posting here to support the original report and to hope that the situation on server 1036 receives attention before the rest of the community disappears.

Could a moderator or community manager please confirm whether the repeated purge abuse and server crashes reported on PvE-C server 1036 are currently being investigated? Even a simple acknowledgement would reassure the remaining players on the server.

kinds regards

I am also in 1036, its such a shame , its a great server with very nice people in it who if they want can PvP ( LOADS HAVE BUILT ARENAS FOR THIS ) Having this happening to the server is causing people to leave , please do something to save 1036 !

Oh there were (are?) arenas for PvP, a dozen of them or so? Couple at least?
Anyway it’s funny how others think that someone will use their arena/bar/ship/whatever just because they “planted” them somewhere and designated such purpose for it. Like this is “my very own private-official” server and I placed this arena here, so that no one will even think about pvp outside it…(and bunch of other “creators” did the same thing).
I’m not saying that using purge to raid/remove others on pve and pvec servers is ok - it isn’t (with a few exceptions), but expecting every new player on a public server to behave correctly and adapt to existing cliques and “atmosphere” is naive. Do you want peace, stability and changelessness? Create a private server.

ps. one more thing about unique “atmosphere” - every player on every server thinks, that his server/clan/base is unique.

This needs to be shouted from the rooftops. The Official servers are to be shared by everyone. No clan or player on any of these servers is special enough to get to dictate how the server is “supposed” to be. If they feel compelled to do so, fine, but they also have to expect that the game CAN be played in MANY different ways. That also includes KOSing on PVE-C, or, bringing down an alpha on PVP.

Back on track here, no matter what exploiting the purge is wrong. While FC has said little to nothing about this being an intended mechanic from its debut, they did hard line it by “attempting” to fix spawning near others’ bases. So this means that anyone using it in this way is greifing and exploiting, hard stop.

But we’re stuck with a HUGE gap in service and knowing how to deal with this. We’re supposed to file tickets through Helpshift but are not told to respond to the automatic email. Then, perceptively nothing happens. No announcements. No acknowledgement. No service. No care.

Meanwhile hackers on PC ravage Officials and spill over onto places they never were before with impunity, exploiters grief and players leave. Two wrongs don’t make a right, right?

Exactly, I’m so tired of so called “entitled” players who want to shape official serves like their own backyard.

my post wasn’t meant to be about a certain kind of rules or whatever. I was just stating that there was room on the server for different play styles, it isn’t about what you are mentioning.

Of course it isn’t unique, also not in terms of being griefed. Is thaat a reason not to talk about it?

But purge griefing 1-3 bases every day on a pve-c server and destroying them and deliberately crashing the server, falls under exploits and not some nettiquette.
This is just destroying a server and FC just lets it happen over and over on PVE-C and PVE

There must be some way to clean up the visual pollution.

I can forgive that they did not know this would be a thing when released; an unintended design. It happens in games all the time. But since it was released, they HAVE known that it has been used as an exploit to destroy bases on multiplayer servers; all consoles, official and private and in all modes including PVP outside of raid hours.

Made worse by the tone deaf change in the Event Log, we can no longer pinpoint the less saavy griefers.

It has now been 2.5 years of this exploit with what appears to be the first acknowledgement of its unintended design addressed via patch notes in December 2025.

Without the data, its extremely hard to say how effective reporting was for this particular issue, but off the top of my head I recall there being little to no acknowledgement. Which can be explained in some ways as you can exploit without the victim knowing even before the Event Log change. Which would mean reports from the beginning would not have all the information required.

Anyway, that is still splitting hairs because FC would have data to look that up on their own, you would think?

A 2+ year long wait for an exploit to be fixed is inexcusable. Once it was reported it should have immediately been addressed.

Tweed, I’m only talking about the impact of players who crash the server to kill and use purges to destroy bases. Personally, I’m the first to kill any player on sight, arenas or not. I don’t think this is relevant.

If that is the case ornaments like “the atmosphere (..) changed dramatically”, “respectful balance”, “most valuable thing”, and my fav: “friendly environment where people could simply log in after work and enjoy the game - vs - I’m the first to kill any player on sight, arenas or not” are irrelevant as well.

Who are they? Gamertags, clan names etc? 2508 has issues too …wonder if same people…

On the side note - there are ways to prevent being targeted by other player purge - walling entrances, placing crenelated fences on stairs, locking doors for your thralls, making sure your whole base area is claimed (to prevent placing a coffer in the middle of your courtyard), hiding decently equipped thralls inside buildings (prevent loosing that sweet maxed armor and legendary weapon from fallen thrall). This won’t save you from exploding golems or meteors, but for them to appear griefer will have to survive long enough → this may discourage him from targetting your base.

At a time when it seemed for a moment that this was happening on the server where I play, I solved it simply: in addition to the central treasure chest in the middle of the base, I had several around the perimeter. They don’t have to contain money, it’s enough that they are there.
They don’t make land claims, but they have a greater range for blocking other treasure chests.

clever , some people tend to build big walls surrounding their base to prevent damage to actual prized loot ect … which is a normal response when you don’t feel like you can do anything else but then we get people reporting them for claim abuse wich is a normal feeling for someone new coming not knowing anything that happened to the server , then after a couple month or years they will get the same trolls destroying their base by any exploit necessary ( before new purge , old purge could also be exploited , also before leash on npc’s was implemented and after they added the orb throwing npc’s of sepemeru those could also be exploited to destroy bases in pve/pve-c ) then they start to understand why the people they reported long ago had walls surrounding their base …

well, today all my thralls were wiped and a lot of people on the server report the same.

Seems we have gone a level up from purge griefing. I lost thralls, I had for years, wearing siptah armors.
40 thralls wiped in an instant, fighters, werebear, pets all gone.

guess i am going into refresh mode until this blows over and then see what is left.

Sad

Let me guess - they were standing in the open? Maybe they were guarding walls with unblocked gates? Maybe inside bases with unblocked doors? Wearing shiny armors, with legendaries on their backs? Or maybe the fact, that there were many of them was enough to “provoke” those fu…griefers.
As I mentioned earlier, there are ways to discourage exploiters from targeting you. Keeping named thralls wearing unique (siptah) gear is like a big neon “pick me”.

We’re talking about a player who managed to kill all of our slaves with the press of a button. They were all inside. It’s insane! We’re saying we just lost everything to a hack; wouldn’t the right reaction be to ally with us, finding this appalling? We’re on a PvE-C server. This happened at 6:27 PM.

That’s another story - previous post wasn’t about instant death, but rather loosing thralls to purge exploit.
Anyway - if thralls died at the same moment it is clear, that hacks were involved. Cracked admin pass?
