Often when I use ultimate ability, I die

Happens mostly in scenarios, just now with Wendigo end boss in E5. I changed to winged form and way before 15 seconds were up, time during which ability description says I can’t take damage, health dropped to half and as I came out of that form and dodged away, even though I hit a potion I dropped dead. Also, initial and ongoing damage to boss seemed negligible.

I was using abilities while in the form – AR Incendiary Grenade and Ele Crystallized Flame as well as Bashonen gadget – and wonder if maybe I’m not supposed to, or that somehow compromises invulnerability, though it sure doesn’t say that anywhere.

Anyone have similar experiences or know what’s going on with that, like what am I missing?

Thanks!

The immunity only lasts for the two seconds it takes to cast your ultimate, not for its full effect duration.

Also the very visual effect of casting wings itself lasts longer then the cast so it’s not uncommon to die while your still in the air. And you can activate abilities at the end of this visual effect

[/quote]But not during it? They seemed to be casting then.

By visual effect of the cast I am referring to the time that you are in the air not the persistent AoE that stays on the ground

To clarify you hit your wings ability sending your character in the air to unveil there wings. For ~1-2 seconds ( I can’t remember the tooltip cast time but apparently 2 seconds as per previous comments) you should not be able to activate abilities. However you remain in the air for longer then the cast duration (this is the visual component) that’s why it appears you are able to attack while still “casting”

Oh and I should have read you comment more closely 15 seconds is not the time you can’t take damage. Only while casting initially and it is a very small time.

Basically wings are only useful when your being overrun or need to grab a lot of mobs attention.

I would trade those 2 seconds of damage immunity in order to keep moving.
It’s like a 2 second stun that can be followed up with another impair from a hostile.

Yes I see what you mean.

Thanks all, that clears it up nicely!

tl;dr what others have said: The cast is two seconds. The animation is longer than two seconds. You’re only immune while the castbar is going. Once that ends, you can die even though the animation isn’t done and you still don’t have full control of your character back, yet.
