Ok, i’m a pve player, always was (for pvp, i play other games)…
What i really enloy in the pve online game is the possibility to cooperate with other players. But for this, you need to have players online.
After every major update, we have servers filling up, players return, experience the new content, deal with the new bugs, and after a few weeks… Number of connected people go down again, people have finished whatever new content was introduced, and reached the point where they felt no incentive to connect and keep playing the game anymore.
Of course, it was always like this, like it is in many other games, but the fact is it wasn’t at the same scale, and i’m under the impression that more players were staying to play a few years back than nowadays.
So, my question : You are making new content/events to make people come back, and it works. But do you have any plans to make them stay?
Our servers have been haemorrhaging players new and old not due to a lack of content, but simply because Funcom are not addressing hackers, egregious landclaim, griefing and undermeshing, and then are habitually pushing untested and broken updates that are often wiping weeks, or months worth of progression for people.
They need to polish what they have, address community concerns and actively admin servers, new content is just lipstick on a pig at this point.
There is a mountain of bugs and performance issues they need to address before I will even consider playing on someone else’s server, whether official or private. I’ve been playing solo on my own server for years since you need admin and mods to counter the game’s severe defects. I do miss playing in a world with other people to adventure with and see their wonderful creations, but Funcom has spent years kicking this whole game down the toilet.
