Is it possible to assign an emotes (any) to a button? How do you do it?
I tried through the buttons settings, but nothing worked for me …
Thank you in advance for your help.
I do not think it is possible. I wanted to do this also, but never could.
I think so: emotes of a character are triggered by commands; and if it is possible to bind commands to buttons, then emotes can be evoked in this way.
Here we need a list of admin commands with a description of each, and then the problem can be solved.
There is a place in settings under key bindings for extra key assignments I think. Unless I am thinking of a different game.
That’s right: 5 commands can be assigned to additional keys. But where to find information, how are the commands for evoking emotes written?
Now, I’m not sure about this part but, would you not be able to find that in the conan exiles unreal engine 4 dev kit ??
Rhe simple fact of the matter is this is not possible. Binding an emote to a keystroke does not work. You can say it is possible but proving it is another thing. I would love to be able to do this, but it is just not possible.
Well, if it’s not a native ability in Conan, then how about your mouse and KB software, do either of them allow for macros? If not there are plenty of free software’s that can.
IIRC, it’s a long press “R” followed by a mouse selection. So that’s macroable, NP. Alternatively, it’s “Return” to open the chat window followed by “/emote [emote_name]”, followed by another “Return” character to execute it - so that is also easy to make macros of.
I’m using Corsair’s Mouse and KB and they both have macro editors, so that sort of thing is pretty easy for me - you may have to DL a freebee…
It turns out that you and I were wrong: the binding of commands to keys in the game settings does not work - it is reset after closing the settings.
Maybe you found a bug. It should stay after set.
The use of command button or chat /emote has its downsides
Saving command button settings in the game does not work (at least for me), you have to edit the files manually:
First Input.ini to set the keyboard key (ActionName=“Command3”,Key=* key name *):
..Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.ini
Then Game.ini to set the command text (Command3=StartEmote wave):
..Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Game.ini
The button will work, but
only if you are the administrator when you use it ![]()
In addition StartEmote and /emote command does not work for multi-word animation names like war dance ![]()
A slightly better way is to use brackets in the chat
When you type
/(war dance)in the chat, your character will dance![]()
![]()
The ‘/’ in front of the brackets prevents you from sending an empty message in the chat.
The letters of the animation name can be lowercase, but it must be in the language you have set. Since I set the Polish language, I have to write /(taniec wojenny). The animations names are names from the radial emote menu.
If you write in chat the sentence Hello(wave) stranger the game will delete the part (if there is an animation with that name in your game language), the character will start animating (if your character has learned that emote) and the chat will display (wave)Hello stranger message only ![]()
@Teng, if you were playing single player you would be able to easily save 5 emotes as Function keys (or whatever you like). But you’d need to be playing under admin privileges. I can think of a few reasons these are locked behind Admin, in the Console.
@CodeMage taught me this: in the Keybinding area, look at the bottom for the Command slots. In the left slot, press F3 (your function key), and in its corresponding right slot type ToggleDebugHUD.
For an emote, I used F4, and typed StartEmote Score in the right slot. While logged in as Admin in SP, F4 works. F3 (ToggleDebugHUD) always works.
If you own a mouse or keyboard by a manufacturer like Razer, they offer software that allows you to set up keyboard and/or mouse macros. This would be the route I would take, and do take when I’m playing on a busy server.
@Barnes, for unknown reason I can’t do it from the settings, although I tried in different ways, and I have admin privileges - the settings fails, and the information is displayed incorrectly in the .ini files.
@fito, your method (to modify files .ini) worked out!
The only pity is that you can’t do this with two-word names.
I’m pretty sure you can do macros in the Steam controller (gamepad) settings
(if you have Conan Exiles from another store, you can connect it to Steam and it should work also).
Macro with /() should work for multi-word animation names
(and it will not require administrator rights):
Enter└►/(warSpacebardance)Enter└►
So if you play with the keyboard but plug in a controller, you can turn it into an
standalone animation activator
Crazy solution isn’t it?
I beg your pardon, I did not understand. What is ‘Steam controller (gamepad) settings’? And what does the other game have to do with it?
I think I understand.
No, I am not connecting a controller to the game. I generally have a problem with Steam: if I open the game through it, then it lags terribly. I have to run them separately. I will try to connect, but not sure if it will work.
Enter└►
That’s cool! “< kbd > Enter└► < /kbd >”
