Patch 2.1.0 Discussion Megathread

I can not 100% say if the saving-up-strategy actually works. In theory, the x2, x3 bonus and so on might be linked to when you collected the skull, not when you hand them in. That’s how I would have done it to make that strategy impossible (if one wants to do that). But I assume that nothing fancy like that was done, and so it should work.

Well in my case, it seems very likely the crashes were the mods. I disabled them all and started a new game, just so I could check the bazaar each day while I wait for the mods to get updated. No issues when I first started the new game, and no issues just now when I logged back into it. Someone earlier said Pippi was the cause for their crashes, and I use Pippi. So hopefully they’ll get it updated before long. CE is a great game without mods, but I love the mods I use.

The Vassal’s Estate building set is amazing! i love the details, but it is very hard to be creative with it, with the minimal building pieces, would it be possible for us to get a ramp & sloped + inverted sloped wedges? @Dana and possible some of the unique pyramid pieces, i completely understand there is no roofs. :folded_hands:

@ Building set
How does it mix with Stormglass and/or Lost Dungeon?

@ Event
Gathering the event currencies seems quite okay. It’s a hunt, not a grind, and the increasing rewards should allow everybody to get the unique recipes.

Stormglass can kinda go with it, but the colors are off a little and it dosent look as great, so atm you can build a square with flat roof or a silo with flat roof, i would say it needs a little bit more, sloped wedge & inverted + a ramp would improve it by a lot, and a few of the pyramid special pieces would make this set exceptional i think!

Thanks for testing that out!

Alright, deleted my game and uninstalled everything using pippi. Game was working.

>Linux on cachyos for context

Log in today, Launch game, server crashes. New dedicated server update after game crashes.

Game updates, launch game, “No executable found for ConanSandboxServer”. Go look, “ConanSandboxServer-Linux-Shipping”, there is no sandboxserver

Try renaming and removing linux-shipping, try deleting and re-validating, now i can’t launch it at all.

Looks like this update tried to add native linux dedicated servers and it messed up? Also i’m having issues with BattlEye on linux because of proton so i’ve got the main game launching and bypassing and i have battleye turned off on my server but i suspect the new linux shipping linux dedicated server will have battleeye issues lol

Edit: Happy for the attempt to bring this to linux but also sad. I’m honestly considering just going back to legacy now instead of waiting for the bugs to get ironed out. Good hustle tho

Hello everyone! Good afternoon.

After the August 18th, 2026 update,

I can no longer use the crafting parts from the bazaar.

For example, the Yamatai DLC parts, the extra parts sold in the bazaar. I have them.

Using the crafting hammer, the parts no longer appear.

Another example: before the update, I built a sandstone base and placed the arcane door.

After the update, I can no longer create this arcane door, nor can I copy it using the hammer.

Even in creative mode, I can’t use bazaar parts that I’ve bought.

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

Thanks :+1:

Olá o/. Boa Tarde.

Valeu :+1:

Yes. Some other people have reported the same problem. One of them found a solution that worked for them and for at least one other person. Please see this thread here for more information (I linked the post with the possible solution, but it all might be relevant for you.)

check the khitan exiled captain. sadly they cant thralled

The reason why you are experiencing more issues now is because of the engine upgrade.

The last few years on UE4 were relatively quiet in updates or changes in mechanics besides the planned ages and after Heroes (which caused a lot of changes in sources we were using for years), things went quiet. I expected Conan to be turned off at some point. In stead we’ve got one of the biggest surprises in history: a different dev team brought in to do the upgrade and more.

The upgrade to UE5 is not just a switch flipped. A lot of stuff had to be remade, changed, recoded and since Inflex wants to put a lot of focus on optimisation, base systems like how materials work have been changed completely.

This also means they have been creating a whole new devkit on the side and a devkit is like creating a second game on it’s own. It will have it’s own bugs and limitations and needs to be updated and fixed.

In the meantime Unreal Engine is progressing too. ATM there’s 5.8 and this version adds new options that can make huge differences on optimisation and a whole other level of development I’m not technical enough for. So Inflex made the complete game upgrade from 4.15 to 5.6, while creating a new devkit (and giving it some better functionalities) and is now working towards 5.8 while doing their best to keep us modders up to date.

There has been more communication towards modders than ever, so while it’s a pain to keep up, it’s also a huge welcome change to how things were handled before. As for mods breaking, that’s the reality of playing with mods. And since we are at the beginning of a whole engine upgrade and devkit creation, this is to be expected.

The contest was about the modding community. They are trying to be more active with and towards the modding community overall. And it’s a nice and welcome change.

I’m typing my messages through a translator, so the meaning of my messages is probably lost.
I’m aware of the changes and everything that’s happening. But I’ll try to explain with examples.
I play WoW and TESO. I’ve been playing for a long time.
Both games support mods (addons).
Mods are updated in both games using mod managers.
I can always see which mods are up-to-date and which aren’t. The games themselves have a “Modifications” section where you can go and see all the information, including which ones are out of date.
Finding out which mods work and which don’t is much easier, and you don’t have to restart the game.
Many outdated mods continue to work. They don’t need to be updated with every game update. And this is an MMO, so updates come out frequently.
Here’s another example. I didn’t know Bethesda was going to update Skyrim. I’ve encountered this once before and spent a lot of time and effort getting everything back up and running. But now I know that most mods are no longer supported by their authors; some will be updated, others won’t. My game wouldn’t start. I went into Vortex, looked, and completely deleted Skyrim along with all my mods. I won’t waste any more time on this.

It’s good to be optimistic and believe that all mod authors are ready to come and fix everything with every game update. But I’m not an optimist. While the game is new or there’s some movement around it, you can hope for that, but after that, it’s a matter of luck.

Even now, some people are working on their own mods, while others have ported them to UE5 and that’s it. Something stopped working, and the author has no time to deal with it.
I hope the game developers understand this.

I’m still missing the point. The game devs are aware of this. They are communicating with the modders. They have a new devkit and are listening to us (I am a modder) when it comes to questions, suggestions and bugs within the devkit. We are getting the info before it happens. Which would rarely be the case in the past, so we had to deal with the update as it dropped, including fixing mods, it’s one of the reasons some bigger names within the modding community decided to quit. But guess what? They are back because of this update and the changes. The game devs are currently working together with the modders to keep everything going as smoothly as possible for EVERYONE involved.

What mod authors decide to do or not to do, that is not on the game devs. If anyone jumped onto this update being an opportunist and thinking it would be all happyhappyjoyjoy mod creation, gain subscribers and maybe get some donations, they are gonna be very disappointed and end up leaving sooner rather than later. But Conan Exiles has had a very loyal ánd active modding community throughout the years, even with the disappointment in dev choices, those are not going anywhere.

How the mods are being implemented in the game, as in overview and all, that’s a technical side I don’t know enough about, but having modsupport on Steam is far better than a lot of other systems I’ve touched before. Could that be better? Probably. Is it possible? No idea. I think you depend a lot on Steam for this.

I think also modding can be very different depending on the game engine that is being used. (My modding experience was all for 7days to die, and there every major update completely destroyed everything I had done - some things I could copy across from the old files, but a lot of things I had to rebuild all over again.)

Unreal seems to need to change things with each update - that is unfortunate for the modders (and mod users), but as MutantArtCat suggests, Inflexion seem to be trying to work with the modders to make this as smooth as they can. But when they update the engine that is going to change things at a base level that means mods stop working.

There is a way round this, if you want mods to carry on working with fewer problems - play CE Legacy. That way you have access to all the old mods and there is much less chance of anything breaking because nothing much is being updated.

But if you want the upgraded UE5 engine and the new features and bug fixes, then the only way to have those is going to also break mods.

I’ve dabbled with 7DTD modding for a bit for my personal server, but never published, so I’m not aware of the struggles on that part. It’s the devs attitude that chased me away from that game tbf.

In the (hopefully near) future, it’s gonna settle down on the modbreaking updates. It’s just that a lot of stuff still needs to be fixed, added, changed, new workflows created and now the change to a newer version, it’s just a lot that is going on but also has to happen right now. There also has been pushback on some decisions and the devs have explained why they are choosing for change things or pushing for the newer version. I’m technically too much of a noob to join in on those convos, so I’ll take anyone’s word for that. Before the upgrade, we were on 4.15 forever.

For myself, before the news of 5 broke, I already decided to stop working on my existing mods and focus on new creations, because when I started out I made a lot of mistakes and fixing them is gonna be a frustrating process for everyone involved and will cause things to break, including buildings and placeables so yeah… I didn’t think twice about to port or not to port. And now I am mainly in the process of understanding the new engine and working towards new and better versions of things I did before.

I think a lot of player frustrations stems from “this is breaking my experience right now” and are not able to look further of what those changes mean for an overall future for the game. As a modder I can see the other side of those changes and understand what they will mean for the future. And I am a happy camper right now.

I think it’s difficult for me to explain what the point is, I tried to explain, but apparently it’s still not clear.

I’m not planning on going back. I know nothing will change in the old version. I hope the mods will continue to work because people are playing.

As for me, it’s simple: if any of the mods in the current version I’m using stop working, and the authors don’t update them for personal reasons (they’re not obligated to), then I’ll do the same with Conan as I did with Skyrim: simply delete the game from my PC. Playing without mods doesn’t make sense to me.

Since I’m missing the point of the issue, then what would you like to see as a solution? Maybe that helps me in understanding

100%. I’m really not sure there’s anything I can add to that statement.

Again complete agreement. I’m confident that the situation will settle down as time goes by - I’m sure the devs want mods to be as stable as possible. But right now they need to solve the base game, and that means there are going to be changes and upgrades and that is going to have an impact.

It’s great that they are explaining their reasoning (even if many of us wouldn’t understand it). Becasue that shows that they are trying to be open with the modders.

That is exactly the problem. I can understand people wanting mods to be stable ‘right now’, but I truly believe it is more valuable to get the game into as good a position as possible first.

I don’t do any modding for Conan (because a) I don’t have space for the devkit, b) I would need to learn an entirely new system from scratch and c) I don’t really have time), but I like to use mods . The difference is that I recognise now is not really the time to be using them, so I am comfortable waiting for it to ne a better time, and playing without them for now. I am happy with the situation, because I believe that it is setting up for a better future.

This doesn’t really make sense to me, but it is your choice. (I think it translates okay, just we think very differently on this.) One thing I do appreciate is you saying that modders are not obligated to update - I agree, and I think this is very important. I think that players making selfish demands is one of the worst things about modding, so I like that you are not doing that.

As I said above - for me, I am happy waiting for mods to be more stable - I don’t mind playing without them for now. And if I decide that I really need them, I will go back to Legacy while I wait for Enhanced to be ready for a more stable modding experience. But it is your choice to do it differently. If you want the latest updates, but also cannot wait for more stable modding, then that is your choice. I hope it works out for you.

I’ll try again. But I should stop posting on the forum, as the translator seems to be distorting everything.

I use building mods.

If I build a building, and then an update comes out and the mod’s author doesn’t, there will be a hole in that spot.
This is already starting to happen.

Everyone understands that this can be a problem, and that’s why the server administration on which I play has stopped using mods.
If every game update requires fixing every mod, then some will probably stop working altogether.

I’ve been playing TESO for many years and use many mods, half of which are outdated. But everything works. And it’s an MMO that is constantly updated.

I never go back anywhere.

Conan appeals to me as a game, but I’ve already played it as is. I don’t expect anything for myself; they’re unlikely to add what I’d like. But that’s not important.

I like the beautiful world and the creative possibilities. I love building, so mods keep me playing.

But we don’t live in the desert, and there are plenty of games. So there’s no problem there.
