This one’s biggest concern about Bronze coins is, well, the Bronze.
As matters stand, we can cast our own coins from gold and silver ore (sadly, we can not unlock a feat to then shave the coins a bit to get some dust without obviously devaluing them, age of thievery with counterfeiting when? Perfect for baiting a higher level purge than you can actually afford?). There is no copper ore in the game.
Then we need to alloy it, do we go historical and use arsenic? Perhaps just fudge it and say brimstone…
Or go just a bit more modern and mix the copper with tin?
Tin was, historically, a very valuable metal, mostly for protecting other metals from oxidizing/corroding/rusting. Perhaps it would need a durability kit added to the copper ore or ingot to make Bronze? Steel fire as a catch all for alloying materials?
But then that makes Bronze a more complicated process than iron… no good.
But iron requires an extreme heat to smelt… copper does not.
We could cook copper on the campfire!
Ok, this one is going a bit overboard.
Mostly because this one very very much would rather see the gear progression in the game:
Stone/Bone>Bronze>Iron>Steel>Tempered/Pattern-welded/“Hardened” Steel>Starmetal
And honestly, Work Hardened Bronze is superior to unalloyed Iron in almost every way, it was only scarcity of alloying agents that forced the precursors to western civ into Iron usage. Civilizations that didn’t have a trade network collapse and could continue to produce Bronze didn’t move over to Ferric weapons until Carbon Steel was sorted, and even then was usually Pattern Welded, or they couldn’t keep up production pace to match iron armed invaders. That being Iron’s chief benefit, abundance and lack of ability to be work hardened. Needs a much hotter fire, but once it’s hammered into shape, it’s ready to go, no need to further compact the edges, ect as that’s not how unalloyed Iron atoms work.
The excise all of this overcomplication would be to add bronze scraps as a drop any enemies, and then watch as perhaps 12 people (this one included) have a conniption fit that items already flavour texted as bronze don’t use bronze as a component.
TLDR; this one does like the idea of copper alloy coins. This one just over thinks everything
