I think these pets would be more useful if spiders had a chance of making gossamer when you feed them, while the birds and shalebacks would make eggs(for eating not pet eggs).

Yes like boars give furs.

antilopes milk - probably just for high tier recipes
raise chance for feather from those birds, and also let em add eggs
