Howdy folks and mostly @Cattibria, I am in the Testlive Beta for the Age of War and the odd-looking cave/entrance-like structure that is on the outer wall of the Unnamed City in the Grid location 6/C (photo of the map included below) is now displaying the “building not allowed” message. I have been able to build there before, is this an intended change for future content? Thank you very much!

I’m not going to lie, your images scream new dungeon entrance promo to me. Good find.

Thank you, Taemien

That is not the only terrain change that has been found. Go take a look at the Ruins of Al-Merayah in the Beta build.

I appreciate the tip @Cattibria as well your speedy reply, however, the Ruins of Al-Merayah along with You-Know-Who’s spot I had discovered. I’m guessing this means that the change to the no-build zone mentioned in my post is intentional and players should be made aware of this if they have buildings here???

I just checked the Live build. It is there. I am not sure if it is there intentionally or for future content.

Okiedokie. We can’t know what purpose, and that’s fine by me as I wouldn’t want to spoil it anyway. Is there a definite answer regarding the potential deletion of player builds in this location on official servers since this spot is now declared “No Building Allowed”? My concern is that for 5 years this spot has been buildable, and now it is not. I would assume, that any buildings in this location or within a certain distance would be obliterated upon this update going live, is that safe for me to assume?

That is possible. We are only guessing at the moment. I am not privy to those discussions.

I understand you’re contracted to not give out details regarding future content, but with all due respect that is not what I am asking you to do. I hope you understand my concern here, as I am not being rude, I am just very concerned that potentially hundreds or more player bases will be deleted when this update goes live and they will not know why or how that was possible. If you could check with your higher-up and find the answer in a way that could help us prepare for this without revealing spoilers, I would be so very grateful to you, @Cattibria!

Even if they could tell me, they won’t.

This dark hole has been there for ages… I check it with every update just in case it is ever used. I have always figured it is reserved for the Mummy of the Ring but alas… the Mummy hole remains empty…

Please Dennis… fill my mummy hole

They would not tell a forum moderator that a Exiled Map location that has been a buildable location for 5 years that it is now registered as non-buildable and subject to player base deletion upon release of the Age of War update on June 22? I really hope that this problem is understood. Non-buildable locations on official servers already have a range built in to wipe buildings owned by players. And this can cause a huge problem for a mass number of this companies customer base. I implore you to find someone who can answer this question; Are player bases in this location I have provided the grid location and photographic location of subject to base deletion on the Age of War update on June 22, 2023?

If I remember correctly, there have been spots that are supposed to be non-buildable that were buildable at times, only later for the bug to be found and then it goes non-buildable. The base won’t 'splode; it just suddenly can’t be expanded. So if someone is built there and they go to place a bedroll, a new chest, whatever, they will get the “Cannot build here” and that would be a queue to gtfo of Dodge.

I know this is true of obelisks, but I’m not sure it applies in situations where they don’t fully include the POI. Like, you can build in front of an obby, but as long as you don’t fully encircle it, the system won’t detonate your base.

Respectfully, Darth, as you know more than I since you make maps; In your professional opinion would this update actually delete a player building IN THE CAVE ITSELF, lets not worry about the outter rims, the issue is this cavern.

Apologies, Darth, but I only just caught this. I want to believe there might have been a misunderstanding, but it seems you went right through my point and went into “that location was always there” as if that was important. Please do not take this as a personal attack, but as a request for clarification on how i expressed my original point.

I cant say for sure… once the new devkit comes out, I think a modder can see if the POI protection system is in place at that spot. No-build areas don’t do it alone to my knowledge, but I’ve never tried to implement POI protection in my maps. I know people have mentioned in the forums (specifically near Sepermeru) being locked out of building at their base because the no build zone was expanded. I have a habit on my maps of slapping down a no build when I intend to build someplace to act as a warning without drawing wide attention (I want it to be a surprise to as many people as possible). So its possible its not for Age of War even as they are likely working on Age 3 and possibly even Age 4, so if they know they are going to do something there, or even think they will, they probably would go ahead and block it well in advance.

Okay, gotcha, thank you so much for the explanation. The new updated devkit is not currently available? When that happens would you be gain more info on this matter? I’m sorry for all the dumb questions.

Edit: please bear with me, i got off a long landscaping job when i found this issue and I might not be communicating my best
