Pressing ESC/quitting the game won't stop the game from playing

Bug Description:

As the title says, quitting the game or just pressing ESC to access in-game menu does not stop the game EVEN if you started the steam offline, and play the game in single player. Which makes absolutely no sense.
In OFFLINE single player why is the game continues playing if you do so? I understant it in multiplayer, but as far as I know NO other games do this. Even 20+ years old games can have the ability to differentiate multiplayer from singleplayer and stops the game when you want to stop it.
In SP you are your own admin, you can do whatever you want. So if you mistakenly got into a fight with multiple tough guys at once, why can’t you just press the esc to stop the game for a moment to rethink what you did?
Or when you just had enough of let’s say the wonky AI and want to quit the game to breathe some fresh air in, the last thing you wanna see is ‘disconnecting from the game’ ( in OFFLINE… SINGLE player… mode) and watching your character to die.
@Community please, after many years, implement this absolutely not hard (but needed) feature into the game.

  1. Step Set Steam to offline (optional, doesn’t change anything)
  2. Step Start in single player
  3. Step Press ESC and/or or quit the game
  4. Die (in-game!)

I am not sure this is actually a bug … it is definitely a weird request if you ask me.

Honestly I don’t consider it as a bug too, because it was probably intentional, but maybe it gets into the devs attention better if I write here instead of the eneral discussion tab, and they consider changing it.
It is a bit annoying (it always was) when a mailman comes, or the phone rings and you can’t just pause the game.
Weird request? I find the fact weirder that you can not pause the game in single player. :upside_down_face:
