Previous saved file won’t load ( hours of game time lost) 
any suggestions??
Playing single player- the game closed and once I restarted the game my progress was lost

You can if you have access to a second console (provided you’ve played on it). However, it’s probably a hell of a lot faster to boost via admin commands, as well as get back any lost thralls, armour and weapons. I’d also suggest taking advantage of Copy Character to create a backup of your character in case something breaks.
