problems with tree models in Linux

I can’t upload images because I’m a new user on the forum, but the general problem is as follows: The trees and bushes look like very low-polygon models, and when I say low, I mean like two or three polygons per model.

The model only looks correct once I chop it down or harvest it, during the falling animation. For those few seconds, it looks perfect until it disappears.

I have an Nvidia 5050 running Garuda Linux. I’ve installed other games on Unreal Engine 5 and I don’t have this problem.

Extra info, my launch line on Steam:

PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv ST_TDR_TIMEOUT=0 PROTON_FORCE_NVAPI=1 eval $(echo “%command%” | sed ‘s/Launcher\/FuncomLauncher.exe/ConanSandbox\/Binaries\/Win64\/ConanSandbox_BE.exe/’) -nosplash -novid -skipintro

If I remove any of these variables, the game won’t launch.

I have to set engine.ini with:

r.Nanite=0

r.D3D12.GPUTimeout=0

Otherwise, the game crashes when loading the world.

have you tried running the game only with this parameter on proton 11 beta : " VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_NV_raw_access_chains %command% " ? It helped some people on nvidia 50 series cards. also what driver are u on ? 595 ?

The fact that trees look correct during the chopping animation is a dead giveaway it’s a LOD issue — the game is loading the wrong detail level and never switching up. Disabling Nanite probably breaks the LOD system too since they’re tied together in UE5. Worth trying that VKD3D extension disable on Proton 11 beta before digging deeper, driver version matters a lot with 50 series cards right now.
