I spent, maybe, the better part of 2-3 years building a city in the mountains just south-west of the volcano. A tiny bit every day. Sometimes I wouldn’t fire it up for weeks or even months, but eventually I would and would get back to building it bit by bit. This was my Conan Exiles pride and joy. A beautiful Yamatai city. I can say that without ego because it really was. I just added a new building last night. It was majestic. MAJESTIC!

Today, I fire up the game only to find the whole thing vanished. A few thralls, and a few random floating objects, like fireplaces and rugs, is all that’s left. I thought it maybe didn’t load correctly, but all attempts result in the same thing.

My entire city is just gone.

I play offline, PVE solo only. Always have admin and creative mode enabled. Purges disabled, weird random attacks disabled. This city has been fine for months, if not years.

What in the flying fiddlesticking FCK* just happened?

When you are playing offline your Ps4 is acting as a server . It is possible your build was to much for it or when logging out it didn’t save. @Croms_Faithful do you have any suggestions I know you only play offline.

Sadly, the PlayStation version isn’t optimised. If you have access to a second console that you’ve previously played on, you might be able to rescue your build. Or you could try loading up your single player game completely offline, forcing the console to use your local save data. If the base is present whilst disconnected, then you can reconnect to the internet.

Oh i know m8, i know .
There are players who maybe help you to retrieve older savings, i don’t know how.
@Kazalakis can you help here?

This is correct @sestus2009. In addition, when in Singleplayer (not to be confused with online solo play) the world renders in around the character’s location. Juxtaposed the entire map remaining present while we are offline such as on official servers. This is why phenomenon such as star metal meteor spawns are difficult to obtain for us, and why many crafting stations and timers cease while we are logged out.

I am going to make an inference here that it is the size of your build. Lacking an optimization update unlike the other platforms, the ps5 version can still struggle with the game. With how much the game has grown and expanded over the years, the ps4 version on the other hand is now REALLY starting to struggle. My partner still plays on the ps4 version and even after 30-40 mins the lag and desynchronisation become too great and she must power down or it will likely crash. And that is just at her modest sized base or enemy camps.

@TheLastGingerAle if you have built an entire “city” your ps4 would be really, and I mean REALLY struggling. And I would highly recommend you downsize to something more sustainable for a last generation system, such as a smaller village. Your only other option is to back up your saved data to a USB on a regular basis, and restore it if and whenever this occurs. But of course this is not an optimal solution. Try to log back in again latter, allow additional rendering time at the location. You could also rebuild the lost buildings if you are playing in Creative Mode. But unless you downsize, history is destined to repeat itself.

Conan Exiles is a wonderful game which allows us incredible ceative freedoms. But with no building limit unlike say Fallout 4, the onus of responsibility, especially for Singleplayers falls to us to regulate our own building, and keep them at levels viable for systems we play on. I wish you the best of luck @TheLastGingerAle.

Most important thing: do you still have an older save file you could restore?

When i came back for AoW (took a break from CE after AoS hit), i was impressed at first about some of the improvements.
First i was playing single player to get back into it, but as i progressed and built and farmed stuff… the bigger my save file became, the more issues i had.

• Building pieces disappeared or lost ownership
• thralls and pets disappeared or switched gender or lost their gear/inventory
• character lost knowledge, attributes, got set back to a lower level, lost gear, switched gender
• discovered locations on the map aren’t located on the map anymore like you didn’t visit them
• freezes, crashes, fatal errors

That’s the worst things happening to me… maybe i forgot some things but i‘m sure our fellow console exiles can refresh our memories.

Save your file on a regular basis is the only advice i could offer, as soon as your console freezes during login or log out, it’s safe to say your save file is corrupted.

In that case delete your save and load the file from usb advice or the cloud.

However, atm online play seems to work the best. In fact i never played CE online ever before, i started to do so when i came back for AoW.

That’s what’s happening to most of us!

How? Can you send details (where do i find my save in my console?) . Just keep in mind i have just a digital edition of the console, nothing more on hardware.
Ofcurce i can buy a usb device, how many giga you suggest it to be?

Pretty much what I said is what @UNfun has said. @stelagel off to work bow, but if no one has told you before I finish, I will post instructions when I get home good buddy.

The screenshots i‘m using are in german but i will translate.

On ps5 and ps4 it’s kinda the same but we are on ps5 so i will explain it for that.

You head to the ps5 settings on the top right of your home screen.
Then you go down to save game data & app settings.

In that section you can choose between ps4 and ps5 data saves.

• upload to the cloud service
• download from the cloud service
• copy or delete from usb-device
• Auto Upload

The first thing you want to do is disable the auto upload function, otherwise the save file gets uploaded to the cloud service on a regular basis and if your save file gets compromised, it will probably get uploaded!

And that’s something you don’t want!

ALSO: The auto upload feature can be completely disabled, but you can also deactivate it for specific games!
In this case a list with all ps4 games shows up and you can pick the ones which you want to handle yourself… like CE in this case.

After you disabled the auto upload option, you can pick either “upload to the cloud” [to upload your file(s)] OR pick “download from the cloud” [to download your file(s)].

In both cases an interface shows up that displays your games and the files, no matter which option you choose the menu looks similar (besides the button on the right bottom side).

Now you pick the save files you want to upload/download.
Once you did that, you have to confirm that by pushing the button on the right bottom side that says either “upload” or “download” (depending on what you wanted to do).
In the case of this picture it says download… obviously. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

With an usb-device it works the same.
But you don’t have to hassle with the auto upload feature.
Simply save your file on usb and if your save file gets compromised, you can load it from your usb device.

Before you do all this, you should be sure your save file isn’t compromised of course!

For usb-device a smaller device with 32GB is enough theoretically, depends how many data you want to save. But if you’re using it for CE only it should be fine.
I for example have an external hard drive with 2TB but that isn’t only used for save files.
There is a lot of different things on that one.

Hope that helps fellow exile!
(And i hope it was understandable.)

@stelagel I see that @UNfun has already beat me to the punch. But not to worry, you are in good hands.

To be perfectly honest here for years I did not even have PS Plus. But in the end this is what made me finally relent. The peace of mind that comes from knowing I have two separate layers of save game data safeguards in place.

I absolutely love this feature about our Playstations! My primary genre is Survival Horror, and on some such games completing certain tasks to unlock certain items can be notorious difficult and stressful. And some of them I just would not want to redo again even if someone paid me. So I take comfort knowing that my hard fought unlockables have a ‘back-up generator’ of sorts.

Sounds much like myself.

This actually gave me food for thought. @UNfun I believe we have grown to developed a greater rapport over time, and that as our interactions have progressed we have evolved to develop a great understanding and mutual respect for one another. Would you like me to send you a Friend Request on the PSN or vice versa…? If not it is all good, but if so then we should PM one another our user name. Your choice buddy, no pressure.

Definitely, i feel really happy and lucky i met him in game yesterday and i am looking forward to play with him :metal:.
I need to play with honest people with positive vibes and @UNfun is one of them.

Kinda similar with me, i played only single player until the pandemic hit…
As i said i‘m a chef and in germany gastronomic companies where much longer in lockdown than most other businesses.

That’s when i really started online planning on a regular basis.
Before i did it from time to time, but not very often.

Absolutely! Sadly i didn’t have that when i was playing space marine on ps3! :sob:
To get the platinum i had to grind A LOT. And my ps3 crashed completely and i had to reset it… all save files lost… at least it happened AFTER i unlocked the platinum.

But all the perks and armors i have unlocked are gone now… wanted to play it lately but couldn’t find anyone online for a match or even co-op.
It still bothers me that i lost that save.

But i‘m looking forward to space marine 2!
And it will have a co-op campaign. For 3 players if i‘m not mistaken.
And it will have online matches for sure.

I‘m honored and looking forward to that too @stelagel and maybe @Croms_Faithful will join us on the server too?

Apologies in advance for my godawful german accent. :joy:
