Bug Description:
purge meter not working correctly
Bug Reproduction:
I’ve attempted to generate purge meter growth multiple times. Over 7 months I haven’t had a single purge despite having a giant base, almost 60 thralls, killing bosses and dungeons, crafting hoards of everything, etc. I’ve lapped the end game and nothing will trigger a purge. I have thousands of hours on Conan and this isn’t how the mechanic works on my other characters.
Just to make sure… you do know how the purge meter works right?
I’m referring to the fact that you have a 15 minute lockout period after performing any action for the next similar action to count towards the meter.
For example: you kill a NPC, you gain 200 purge points… at this point, for the next 15 minutes you can kill as many NPCs as you’d like… it simply won’t count towards your purge meter, only the first one after those 15 minutes are up.
So if you want to increase your purge bar, then performing the various different activities every 15 minutes is the way to go… within that window, get your points for killing a NPC, building a foundation somewhere (separate from your building), do a relog (there’s points for logging in) and then repeat that after 15 minutes.
(On the flip-side if you spend a few days logged out, your purge meter will lose progress… and on top of all this in order to get a purge you need to have your base outside of the no-purge zone along the main river in the south and your base needs to have at least 90 or so pieces)
If you already knew this and have been doing it this way and still can’t get progress then maybe it is some weird rare bug, but so far I haven’t seen anyone with this issue.
Thank you for replying. I’ve had dozens of purges over the thousands of hours I’ve played. This character just seems incapable of creating one for whatever reason. The mechanics don’t function like this on my other characters.
I’ve built multiple new bases to test it out over a week and it goes about 1 or 2 ticks into the purge bar then resets to zero every night I log out. A 6-hour slaughter and build session wouldn’t make it rise further than my shorter less intense sessions. I make purges on other characters to get thralls and have never had this bug happen before.
The wiki has a list of every action (Xevyr pretty much covered them) that counts towards the purge meter, along with caveats for what does and does not count.
If you have other things you want to do aside from playing Conan, one thing you might try is this:
Think of a thrall you really want to acquire, but never is around.
Set up a camp near to that thrall’s spawn location with a bedroll.
Set a timer for 15 minutes.
Every time the timer goes off, place a new foundation not attached to anything else, then pick it back up, then go to the spawn and kill whoever is there (unless it is that thrall you want, then bonk them instead), then pull your bracelet and respawn at your bedroll.
Reset the timer and go do that other thing you want to do aside from playing Conan.
Spend a few hours doing this, and your purge meter will significantly increase.
Thank you for the advice. As I mentioned I have thousands of hours on Conan and have been able to re-create purges a multitude of times. There is a bug preventing a single character from achieving one.
If you’re certain about that and it’s on an official server, then you could open a ticket to Zendesk so that they can investigate. (Characters / Accounts and their data on official servers is handled there)
