It does all depend on how you decide to play.
For example I am trying to play as a sorcerer atm, and having half your health and stamina nerfed , definitely makes things more…interesting…
This past week, I have lost two thralls, just in the process of trying to train them, lol
They were both berserkers too! (one was murdered by villagers in Sepermaru, the other while trying to gain a replacement Berserker,
)
Things have definitely changed. In the past (pre-updates) never would have happened.

Yeah, going full corrupted is definitely what constitutes as “hard mode” for the game. Spells give you limited utility, but the loss of stamina is quite crippling unless you play a Rolling thrust build.

I am not knowledgeable in builds, but I have seen guys running full corruption builds in pvp and they were really powerful.

Not really hard mode with the right build and gear.
On Siptah using gloves of jhil and having sigils pretty much makes up for the stamina cut and corrupted authority and vitality make up for the hp cut.
I can melee up with my thralls just fine and not worry about being 1 shot in light armor cause I can’t be.
On EL it’s a bit more of a drag not having gloves of jhil so I just attack a bit less but it still works. Ranger armor helps some with the Stamina but it’s still less of a hands on build even before aow.
Overall corrupted builds in pve are pretty effective and powerful if you know what you’re doing and that hasn’t really changed in aow.
Pvp on the other hand is another story…

What were the stats on it exactly?
Think someone said something about hp and stamina.
Says light, needs heavy, but I seem to be taking damage like it’s light. Not sure what to think got 2 sets about to toss them in the recycler or put them on thralls for the health.
Nice stats but if I was gonna run well trained I’d still use skelos cultist master set.
It fits my build perfectly.
I use thralls for back up so was looking at getting in more hits per attack. I can do the heavy and follow up plus 3 spins at 2 probable hits per with the Vanir armor.
Would definitely be a solid set for that
Yeh, I don’t know how I feel about it. They nerf stamina. Yes it comes back muck quicker, but unless you invest in stamina you can’t even finish combo with twohander…and boom… here is an armour set that solves all that without respec. Kind of feels ptw. Although, I must admit, some of items from bazaar are too ehhh
Ya I’d trade 5% slower recovery for one more attack.
With the right armorer you can match one or the other bonus with in game armor, but not both.
So, I’ve been doing Conan PVE for 5+ years. Still not board.
But I did leave public servers about 2 years ago.
On the servers I play, we do Barbaric+ settings with NPC damage set to 2.5 but everything else set to vanilla.
It makes us very cautious.

Artificial difficulty.
I’d rather the enemies had interesting movesets rather than super high damage which you can dodge freely.
Don’t tell me you’re cautious of a Giant Spider boss, even with ×500 dmg, you’d be lying

Bosses are easier than ever. It’s human mobs that are the issue now. A T1 Smelter in the mounds can 3 shot you at max level, 1700 armor under the setting we play.

If I’m not mistaken, Conan Exiles was marketed as a survival game with emphasis on PVP.
On official servers, I think the whole point was to make pve=easy, pve-c=medium, & pvp=hard.
Most npc mobs except for a select few (corrupted wolves, bloodmoon beasts, rockslides, etc.) never posed a significant threat. Rotbranch used to be docile until attacked and wolves used to not apply sunder. NPCs were not a priority for the longest time, as far back as I can remember.
For years, we could run into a crowded npc camp with light armor and never worry about dying.
A steel trident was sufficient enough to slaughter countless npcs, even at the volcano in the Exiled Lands. I believe the greatest threats were always meant to be enemy players.

I have played this game since the start on consoles. My memory is a bit misty, but I do remember running away if more than one rocknose attacked, or making traps to kill rinos and world boss crocs.
I get that the biggest predator is another man, but the game used to be a bit more challenging. If I remember it correctly.
It has nothing to do with experience. I’ve played for 5 years and before the updates you couldn’t just take a low gear lvl 4 fighter to a world boss and watch the thrall beat it in 4 combos with a Momentum. Now you can, it’s just ridiculous. The game offers zero challenge these days with all of the new things like instant stamina regen, bosses that drop with few blows, endless supplies of T4 thralls, steel and other materials just by killing a couple of blood crystal rocknoses and a huge list of other things that have changed this from a survival game with some PvP to a PvP fight arena with very little survival. Completely the wrong direction if you ask me. There should be servers for those who would actally like to play the game properly without 4x rates and such.
