Then target-lock should keep itself disabled (by settings), how it is expected.
I got my own target-lock now. It’s called purple orb.

And lose console players in droves.
When you don’t have AoE and lag comes in, and it always comes in, combat would greatly become a game of luck.
I don’t like target lock. At all. It’s the skill eraser. I don’t even like soft types of target lock, but in this case, it’s a necessity for console players. It’s not as if it was optional. It becomes frustrating, because you’ll see yourself hitting the target, but the game not even registering the hits. With a mouse, you can easily have pinpoint accuracy, but not while driving a stick with your thumb that is much less sensitive (both your thumb movement and the hardware, because of technical aspects linked with hardware movement detection range and sensitivity). It doesn’t matter how good you are. That’s why multiplayer games where aim counts, that allow cross platform playing, do adjustments. Otherwise you wouldn’t stand a chance with a controler against k+m. Not in a million years. This is gaming 101.
Cross-play is here, so it better not. XR is a new standard for immersive cross-play.
Idk, I have seen very good players compete vs mouse and kb with controller on PC as well.
It’s a skill issue, not a platform/input issue.
Target lock nonetheless is technically an aimbot.
And who likes to play vs aimbotters ?

This right here. I am on a busy official, and once 6+ join in a fight it starts looking like a claymation fighting video

Well, I do know. I played on both for many years. There’s no comparison, but that’s not me saying it. Ask any pro player.
What you had was a very skilful controler user vs a less skilled k+m player. I reckon I could take an unskilled fighter too, but if it was a fighter at my level I would most certainly lose.
In the context of Conan Exiles, it’s not that easy to gauge skill either. The combat is not very polished. But I’m a bit surprised by you not being aware of this difference. It’s universally known and accepted in the gaming world.
Regarding this issue, not at all. It’s a very significant difference. Of course if you pit a virtuoso with a controller against a noob with k+m, you might be lead to think otherwise, but as a rule, k+m allows for much easier and precise aim.
Well, I don’t, but it’s not exactly the same when both users have target lock.
It just lessens the role of skill. It evens the field. That’s exactly what happens when two players use spears with targrt lock enabled. Skill matters less, although timing and positioning will still make a difference.
It quantizes the positions of the controller into 16 slots of movement. (I think it is 16.) It’s not a full analog stick with only 16 slot mode.
The over-the-head shot takes skill now. It’s a pain, however, to lineup with one of those 16 slots with the hammer or 2 handed sword.

How “spear is gone” is a bad thing? Best thing that happen to pvp in ages.

It’s garbage and has always been since they increased the dodge roll count to 6 and removed greystam.
It’s funny that literally ALL the better PvP players used and still use CONTROLLER STYLE MOVEMENT even with K+M.
I’ve seen controller users successfully use animation canceling as well when it was still possible.
It is a skill issue. The only thing where I agree is the bow on controller. I have played Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West on Playstation. But they had a feature that made the bow play tolerable with a controller: time slow down.
But this you obviously can’t use for bows in Conan Exiles because it’s multiplayer.

I don’t know what to tell you. This is a fact. Maybe it’s a CE fetish, what do I know? You’ll never see a controller against k+m on e-sports.

You can. It’s possible, but archers will regret it, because it’s a simulation and not the real thing. What’s done is slowing movement, zooming in and change to sighted sensibility per player’s choices and definitions.
I don’t see the use here, honestly.
I rarely use target lock, so I forget it when using bows too and I still manage. But if you have a good opponent who sees you, he will wiggle and shorten the distance fast enough to get you in trouble unless you switch to melee. As long as he doesn’t keep is movement linear, you’ll have a hard time shooting him, even with target lock.
A keyboard and mouse is better for competitive first-person shooters and real-time strategy games. In virtually all other cases, though, a good controller is equal or sometimes even better thanks to its high level of comfort and intuitive experience.
XD
What you described is literally in the game with bow heavy attacks.
XD
But no, real slowmotion is impossible in multiplayer games. What do you want to do? Slow ALL other players down as well?
I am done here. This is too stupid for me.
Keep autoaiming and running in circles spamming sprint attacks while others abuse bows.

Even movement is better with k+m.
It’s all better.
The controller is just more comfortable, but doesn’t allow you the same performance.
I’m perfectly happy playing with a controller. But you would never see me compete with one unless it was the only input device allowed, as it happens in all ranked console competitions. Enters pc, exit controllers. That’s how it is.

Excuse me, wasn’t I clear enough? I wrote it was a simulation, not the real thing. It gives the player the illusion of slowed time.
There’s a bit of it on bow heavy attacks but the zoom isn’t very significant, you can’t have customized sighted sensibility and you just regress to walking speed. What I’m talking about is a more polished mechanic, but unnecessary on Conan. Archers would be sitting ducks.

The only stupid thing I’m seeing here is the basic ignorance of the universally accepted difference between controllers and k+m in gaming. Clearly you never competed in e-sports.
I hate strafing games, so I rather play with controller. I got it to work with WoW up to level 20.
None of that matters with openXR: OpenXR Overview - The Khronos Group Inc That is why I talked about cross-play (AR+VR=XR) It’s probably too much work.

You can strafe with a controler too. It’s the precision that changes.
Strafing is a core ability. It must become a second nature and you must get used to how it will impact aim, when it applies. Why don’t you like it? It’s mostly a defensive maneuver with great utility.
The input device will still matter. Very interesting stuff, but it’s all still far from the common user, no? Good VR equipment is still expensive and there aren’t many interesting games on it, IMO… am I wrong?

This right here. Some of the best spear users all used controller on the non-qlock servers. The guy you are responding to is a straight up clown. No pvp detected coming from him. And all those server (I saw you posting on FATE) just plummeted in population because bow is OP, which just pushed out a lot of those controller players.
