PVP Not what I expected

What I expected: a dangerous world where stepping outside your fortified castle is taking your life in your hands. Roving bands of heavily armored warriors challenge each other across a vast battlefield. Defeating a foe gains you his weapons and armor, just like in the Iliad; he may not care to challenge you again until he has rebuilt his armory.

What I got: waking up dead. Naked bozos armed with nothing but bombs blowing up your base while you are off-line. They have no gear, no thralls, and nothing to lose if you do kill them. They throw down a tower and a trebuchet and demolish your base; all the weaponry in the world is useless because the only resource that matters is dragonpowder. Half the time they don’t even have a base and just sleep under a bush somewhere.

I wanted savage feudal combat. I got economic terrorism. They should rename it DragonPowder mode.

My solution: give each player one anchor foundation; anything within 2 blocks of it cannot be destroyed. That’s not large enough to build a full base, but it’s enough that you can rejoin the battle when you log in, instead of waking up dead, naked, and alone.

It sounds to me PVE-C is the server type you want!

Find a server with Conan Exiles Legacy and the Age of Calamitous mod. It has an Arena for duels and everything you described.

PVPers don’t run armor. Just EZ craftables, kill them, and they come back again stock with potions and the same weapons.

This s is ver is popular right. Try it less stress then offficer

I’d rather have a hole drilled in my head and have battery acid poured in than play PVP.

I don’t think this post suggested that you should.

As much as your suggestion might make sense you have to factor in the ingenuity of cramming as much loot as possible in small spaces. While it may alleviate some of your concern, it won’t address the biggest issues you brought forth: imbalance and offlining.

There’s been a range of alternatives: bombs having to be crafted at benches and they have timers, as an example.

Dynamic building damage enabled servers to prevent offlining, which is already an accessible global server toggle option.

Dynamic Building Damage turns PvP servers into PvE servers.

You’re right, absolutely would turn into PVE if raid time is still for only 5 hours. If it were changed to 24/7 then would eliminate much of the exploitation. Get on, build? You can be potentially raided. But I also think that a subset of servers should be DBD enabled, not all.

Another suggestion is reducing raid time from 5 down to 2 or 3 hours per day. I also think a subset of these would be intriguing. It’s exhausting to defend for 5 hours straight, or babysit, etc.,…

While I do not condone offline raiding nor do I offline raid others, I do know that when I select a PVP server with posted raid hours that if I am not on during those posted raid hours to defend, it is an easy target and likely will be raided.

Either get creative with hiding/protecting valuable loot, be on during the raid time of the server you selected, or consider a PVE-C server where you can have the combat but not have to deal with the raiding you seem to despise.

Now that the devs have removed the name of the player/clan from event logs, offline raiding has escalated as there really are no risks for doing so in this supposed risk vs reward game. They removed the risks and now offlining and ratting is the meta.

I wouldn’t say I despise it. It’s just not the game I want to play. “Terrorists in Hyborea” could well be some people’s favorite play-style, and more power to them. But it’s not something I am interested in.

Like I said, rename it to “Dragonpowder Mode” so people know what the objective its, and enjoy. It’s just not an experience that you would expect from changing one letter in “Conan Exiles: PVE”.

I was prepared for the imbalance; that was fine. I just wasn’t prepared for the entire experience to be off-line raiding.

“The only armor I need is lag!” PVP pros everywhere

The truth about Conan exiles PvP experience is that’s build to bring you in the edge. Playing in this mode you’ll either get huge excitement or devastating disappointment.

Anyone who’s skilled on something, even naked bombing yes , can outplay a whole freaking Clan in times , or a perfect archer can literally destroy mass conflicts between clan wars. A thief, a skilled one, will enter like a ghost under your nose in your base and loot efforts of decades even hundred hours of grinding. Even if dynamic building dmg will be activated, in this time window of activation, someone who studied your base from inside can finally make huge dmg .

I personally believe that PvP in this game needs more experimenting . I have suggested a Bank to deposit a number of valuables , or a percentage of building pieces someone can loose, to make the game a bit more trivial both for the builder and the raider. These suggestions are focused mostly to assist solo PvP or small clans.

Big clans work like Ants together, no matter what they lost they can return back in no time and revenge. If they have no interest on a server, they jump to another to start fresh and find excitement again. Big clans in this game, can become hurricanes and literally bring down the whole server in a couple days.

Let’s be honest here. Anyone who had been totally wiped back then, wished for a way to hide valuables . Then undermase arrived, body vaults and sky bases. That’s the story of Conan exiles PvP, players had to find their own safe storage since the game wasn’t providing. And it’s funny that both players and Funcom don’t accept this truth all these years.

Anyway, my greatest issue of not participating on PvP servers will always start and end on performance because playing on playstation i don’t know what hack means which is far greater issue. But i believe that Funcom should experiment the option of a Bank or the percentage.

And of course bring back a couple blitz servers for veterans.

You have discovered PVP in Conan.

tony stark shrug

Theres a reason why Ive been vocal for a long time that pvp in conan actually sucks. I would prefer the nerfing of the encumbrance perk to greatly reduce the ease with which offline raiding can be carried out… and also make bodyvaulting harder.

But ultimately…

  • the only true base protection is concealment. They cant raid a base they dont know the location of.
  • having more clanmates helps you defend.

ps. Also why Im in favor of how things were handled in Dune: having a main base safe in a pve zone, but have valuable (in theory) loot in a pvp zone where you build temporary bases that can be raided. Good concept, but Funcom dropped the ball again by making the deep desert largely meaningless.

luckily for you there is an option for that called a pve server. and i feel the same way about playing on a pve server with 47 alters on one map and 46 on the other, but instead of drilling the hole just use a rusty railroad spike and a hammer

there are times where i don’t use a base and now with access to both maps its even easier. i can use the benches at the siege castle in new luxor to craft just about anything i need. dragon powder is easily available in chests right off the beach. use npc weapons and armor and just keep one or two stashes for a quick resupply if needed. the life of a murder hobo has never been easier.

you can also test out base locations and different building methods in single player before building on official to make your base harder to raid

It might not be the game, try a private server like I suggested that has rules such as no offline raiding that might fit your playstyle a bit more.

20:00-22:00 would be a good raid time imo.

But tbh, the game has significant issues since the update and no proper fix or update is in sight, even tho the time after the update is probably the most important one.

It feels abandoned again
