The call that PVP is trying to ruin PVE with the call for a thrall “nerf” is absurd. We as PVPers are actually accepting the farming of essential pvp loot will be hampered by this. But we also realize balance in the combat is important in a Conan Lore game. Even in PVE. Yes, the main reason is getting clapped down in 1 or 2 shots by another players followers is not fun. but we also feel like the best way to practice is to fight NPC’s to better learn hyper-armor, rolling, and combos of every weapon to gain experience that 1v1 only gives if you are “lucky” enough to get a full on engagement regularly. And being as time is essential, practicing with allies/clan mates takes away from valuable farming time. So by making PVE more engaging combat wise, we can both farm and “practice” fighting. I think the real divide isn’t in PVP v PVE, but competitive vs passive game styles.
Pve or pvp for me it never matter. I play both my way. So nerfing thralls is a good start, still it is not enough to make me the actual hero of the game. I have to be stronger. I want my armor to actually work. I want to hit harder. I cannot accept that for some minibosses i am 2 hits wearing more than 1.100 armor. I cannot accept that i need 100 hits and more to kill a boss. So if i hit hard my pvp opponent will do the same. With this both pvp and pve players will be happy. I do understand that this will bring major problems to the new players getting bullied from old players in pvp servers. So light armors or nudity will have to regain some of the old dodge. Not so much that it was but more than it is now. A new player must be able to avoid a fight. And one last thing. Some players like to pvp solo and they are pve masters too. Most of the solo pvp players are pve masters that went pvp for more thrill. This crazy farmers need a chance against the clan bullies. Alliances in solo players clans must be allowed. Closing, a mod of lemurians is fixed, it is awesome, please bring it as dlc to the vanilla version. No matter the charge, solo pvp players will buy it to survive. Thank you
but i am pvp player and do no want nerf neither.
let’s do a poll to see if pvp really want nerf for thrall
actual thrall are not a problem to fight, its just a matter of learning how to deal with them. as there is tactics and counter already existing. butr yes they can kill you, sometime you win, sometime you loose.
and each time you are killed you learn from your error and come stronger for next fight.
I’m a Single-Player, yet I think the focus on game balance should be on PvP because that’s where balance matters. Hyenas, Cimmerian Berserkers, Giant Spiders or Rocknoses won’t complain on the forums if I use “unfair” tactics against them. They don’t get upset if they’re defeated by superior numbers (which, admittedly, is not often happening anyway). They won’t even report me if I use outright cheats, such as mods that give me better stats.
In PvP, it matters. The game mode practically forces players to use the “meta” tactics and equipment unless they want to handicap themselves, and in a competitive environment that’s often not a preferable option. (Sure, I know a handful of people who choose a suboptimal setup because it forces them to improve themselves, and still gives them room to upgrade to a better setup if they need it.) The “meta” can get stale, and I understand why PvPers want more diversity, including a better balance between various offensive and defensive options.
However - and it saddens me that I feel the need to emphasize this - it doesn’t make PvP players more valuable or more important than PvE or single players. It doesn’t give PvPers any right to act dismissive towards PvEers or Single players. It doesn’t give them the sole right to vote on game content.
Even if, in the end, balance decisions are made from a PvP focus, seeing the whole picture, including how the changes affect other playstyles, is important. That’s why PvEers and single-players must have an equal right to participate in discussions related to “rebalancing” game content.
To me it seems like some people think all we do it sit at the sinkhole and fight 1v1 or have a thrall when we duel. Pvp players do experience both sides of the game. I’m in a group, but it isn’t like we are all on doing everything together 24/7 either.
Fighting a thrall in a 1v1 can be done, sure. Its tedious and you’re at the risk of getting 2 shot at any time. Some players are specced for encumbrance because they are the bombers, unable to spec too high in combat stats due to the 50 encumbrance required. Getting pinned and 2 shot with raid supplies that you’ve spent days farming and crafting isn’t fun. Then the multiple thralls just came your body making it hard to get your stuff back, meanwhile the player is patching the base.
We still have to do the same content for recipes and gear or farm bosses. Any balance change whether it is considered good or bad does impact everyone. Some things, which may seem fine from one sides perspective, when put in another situation may reflect how broken or exploitable certain things can be.
Maybe some of the people who have never played pvp should give it a chance to see the impacts before dismissing them
What gets me is people think that only PVPers want this change. Granted I have insight from playing both styles. My complaints about the current thralls stems from their impacts in PVE.
Quite frankly, any named thrall can solo the PVE game for me. I can get a Dalinsia or a Cannibal Brute, a Lian, a Spear’din, or whatever. Hell can even do this on some of the stronger Tier 3s. What I do is load them up with the heaviest beefy armor I can with bulk plating, then put the nastiest two hander I can spare with a weapon fitting.
Take them to any boss in the game. And tell them to attack it.
Higher end thralls need no input from me outside that. Some of the weaker ones from Exiles, Darfari, or Lemurians need a healing arrow once in a while, Maybe. More likely needed post patch on Testlive, but not really, just takes a little longer.
But let’s not pretend that I need to attack anything at all in PVE myself. At least not in the vanilla game. It gets a little challenging when you load AoC. With NPCs/Bosses hitting for 600-2500 damage a hit. Then, and only then do I need to seriously watch my thrall. Oh and if there’s plague then I need to tell my thrall to move.
But I’m being told its none of my business ‘how others’ play. That I shouldn’t worry if others simply want to sit on a ledge, press E, and watch netflix for a few minutes and then collect their loot. There are people on these forums advocating for that.
That is the type of players these thralls have brought to our game. Think on that.
