The current purge would look at the narrow approach and just nope right out.
The cowardly Stygian scouts would snivvel back to their cruel masters that there is no way to set up a camp and reach the goods. Worse than failing to defend, it would defend so well that the enemy does not even attack…
And again, we are punished for sound fortification design.

That having been said, it does marry some excellent traits of later star forts to a classic lake moat/island perimeter matches terrain style.
Where would you build it?

Hochosterwitz is probably the most impressive one this one has had the privilege of attending to, but Marksburg will always have a warm place in the heart, lots of early training there.
Stettenfels was definitely the most fun to work on, they basically host a cultural period festival there, or at least did, the high traffic ensured there was always something that need fixing, and the beer and food were always in good supply, unlike some locations that were remote enough that it was more of camping trip of we wanted to get any work done in reasonable time.
