I noticed today when I logged in to my official Isle of Siptah server, it showed a date, time and destination Exile map server that we would be merging with. What happens if we have a character on that Exile map already?
Received a message that on May,4 my char would be moved to an EL server. But I’ve already got (for many years) a char exactly on this EL server, so what? Two chars at once on the same server? Will it cause a conflict or even a possible destruction of constructions/inventory/followers, and this or that char itself?
Safest option - assume yes and transfer your Siptah character to a different EL server. You’re going to lose your Siptah base anyway, so might as well dismantle it into the inventories of your followers. And whether you transfer by choice or by the automated system, it’ll send all your followers with you (you just need to place down a foundation somewhere on your new server - or start building a new base - and then you’ll be able to place the followers from the follwers tab). You’ve nothing to lose by transfering and you don’t risk getting your EL character over-written.
We didn’t choose which server our IoS characters are moving too.
You CANNOT have 2 characters on one server, If you let the system merge your siptah character to the designated server that was chosen by funcom and you already have a character there, one of them is going to be deleted. I would do as Dan suggested and move the siptah character out before the auto merge to avoid a conflict
Maybe it’s in fact possible to move two characters to one server. The UE5 version can have multiple characters according to the blog post. Does that mean per server? Or what else?
Oh, good question. I assumed it was going to be multiple characters for single-player. But for the online servers as well would be pretty nifty.
In the blog post it says : " Multiple Characters Support: Maintain and switch between
multiple single-player characters per account. "
So @Yamatai_Onsen I think you assumed right
@Rhoklaw you can find the ip of the server if you search for it on the net ( like on battlemetrics ) , you can then try direct connect or if it still isn’t working with direct connect you can use a vpn !
Damn, that would have helped the issue at hand. But good find!
I think I’ll take the advice someone else posted and just transfer to my own server choice with a low ping. I have no idea why they moved us to a server that doesn’t match our current ping, but it is what it is.
So I just checked the requirements for transferring and it says you can’t be over-encumbered. Seriously? We are being forced to move and now you’re basically making me start over? Come on.
@Dana Is this how things are going to unfold? Funcom official transfers from IoS to EL are moving me to an unplayable server and if I choose to transfer to a EL server I can play on, I must basically start from scratch?
Alright, just checked #1518 again, which is the EL server Funcom has chosen and now my ping is down to 71. So rather than lose 99% of my stuff, I’ll continue with the server Funcom has chosen.
Load yp besrers and camels they will transfer with you.
that is for single player
As Hansel alluded to - you don’t have to lose all your stuff. You will be able to transfer your entire follower list with you (if everything is working properly) - so load up your followers inventories with all the stuff you want to take. Once you get to your destination, find a place, put down a foundation (or start building a base) and then you will be able to place followers from the followers tab.
Preparing for a transfer from Siptah with only your own inventory and that of your thralls is quite a hassle. I tested that on a new game (single player), and I needed more than 10 level 4 bearer to load up all the resources gathered in just two days. For an older game, it would be impossible to transport all the resources and other loot.
All online Siptah players, you have my deepest sympathy, and Funcom, if possible, it would be nice to keep the work you put some players through in mind for the future.
Absolutely. My comment was certainly not meant to suggest that there is no hardship - merely informing our friend that they don’t have to leave everything behind. I’ve argued many times in support of the Siptah folks that the maths doesn’t add up.
Even if they convert all followers to camels (30 slots) (which itself is a hardship as it would involve dumping scores of levelled up followers) and if they are able to have 65 followers (which is a figure I’ve seen quoted, but have no idea if it’s accurate) that’s still only 1950 slots total (plus whatever they are able to carry themselves without going over the limit). A much more likely total, in my view, is around 650 slots (an average of 10 per follower, which still seems potentially high depending on how many fighters etc they have). For someone who’s played a while, 1950 slots is not a huge amount, especially given how many items don’t stack at all. 650 seems disastrously low.
It’s better than not being able to take anything, but it’s still punishing for those who will be losing a lot. (Personally, I’m losing everything from my Siptah playthrough, I just don’t care. I can keep a backup of the save and, if I really want to go back at some point, I’ll be able to return to UE4 and have no problems. But realistically, I’m unlikely to ever do that. But I’m happy starting over, which is not something that I believe should be forced on people who don’t want to do it.)
This is easy to fix. When at the server select screen:
- Open a command promt (press windows key, type “cmd”, press enter)
- Type “ipconfig /release”
- Wait 30 seconds
- Type “ipconfig /renew”
- Refresh server list
Works for me everytime.
WARNING : it will disconnect you from the internet for a short time
I was able to transfer off siptah with 64 camel followers. I didnt care about bringing fighters or horses can just place new ones out of what I brought in camel inven. What’s weird is it wouldn’t let me place the 65th camel kept saying I was at the limit. But I did find a bug, after I got to exiles I pulled out a dalinsia from one of the camels and after I placed her down, there was still a dalinsia in my hotbar. I placed another one and still the same dalinsia was in my hotbar. I just deleted the copy as I don’t use too many thralls. So there’s definitely some wonkiness going on with the transfer full of bugs. After playing this game so long I just shrug my shoulders
In the Post it is stated the siptah characters will overwrite existing character on EL
A bit late but..
Alongside the visual overhaul and integrated world, the update also introduces multiple characters per account and a revamped user interface.
This is in the FAQ
Edit.: Inflexion just confirmed on Reddit it’s only one character per dedicated server.
