“The fixes for encumbrance have been rolled back so players no longer slow roll when lightly encumbered.”
You want to roll like it’s Dark Souls. You get Beast of Burden. Or gear smart, just like you did before lvl 20.
Crom’s gonads, it’s getting less and less fun to play Official specifically because even the most minor of speed bumps are being honed down to a smooth, no friction, gradient.
But doesn’t that only work for those that are not encumbered? If you don’t play heavy it probably doesn’t matter. Slots are limited just to get dodge right.
Not sure exactly what you mean, but Beast of Burden allows you to roll your dodges at unencumbered speed.
But folks were upset they couldn’t continue to wear heavy [armor] while using daggers and roll around like it’s Elden Ring or Dark Souls. Instead of being forced to gear like an actual “light on their feet” rogue. Who uses dodges to avoid taking damage because they don’t have the armor to take a direct hit.
…basically, they wanted all the benefits of Beast of Burden (minus infinite weight) while maxing out their DPS (Agillity-based weapon) and Avoidance (dodge).
…all while refusing to play on a private server that has an “anti-Encumbrance” mod running.
I remember it down to just being able to take a step. That was no fun. The dodge/roll needs to at least break up the party of enemies… by rolling over them if not through them.
Maybe the concern is stamina drain. The heavier, the faster it drains.
I find I’m actually against Beast of Burden. It allows for certain activity. I’ve had to play around it. I’m just comparing dodge speed atm and worry about the balance. It may be better to live with it.
