Zath’s currently chilling out in my bathroom.
Zath is an interesting subject because it originates from a derived work. That usually means the lore behind it is adjusted to fit the game when it comes to games published by Funcom.
Let’s set some guidelines so we’re on the same page here.
First you have established hard canon. These are the stories and essays written by Robert E. Howard himself. This is the very foundation of all the Conan games made by Funcom are built upon. As well as pretty much any other work set in the universe.
Then you have derivative works such as Conan and the Spider-God. This also includes the movies, the comics, the cartoons, and the novels and short stories written by other authors. It also includes the various Role-playing game systems and handbooks. What is interesting about these is Funcom likes to pick and choose things as inspiration. Star Metal from Conan the Adventurer cartoon, Riddle of Steel from the 1980s Conan the Barbarian movie, and so forth.
What I want to point out is that when they do this, this does NOT make the entire work they pull from Canon to Conan Exiles. Conan the Adventurer in its entirety is not Canon to Conan Exiles just because we have Star Metal. Conan the Barbarian is not fully canon because of the references to Riddle of Steel in making Hardened Steel. Therefor we can infer that the entirety of Conan and the Spider-God is also not canon to Conan Exiles.
Now let’s talk about Funcom Canon. This is the canon of Conan Exiles. And specifically Conan Exiles. Age of Conan, Conan Chop Chop, and Conan Unconquered are all Funcom games, and while they may have references to one another, they are not fully canon to one another either, though they basically follow the same rules. They have the REH foundation, and they pick and choose derivative canon which also includes some canon from each other.
Now for Funcom Canon it is the final litmus test on what is what in the game. That should be obvious, but it must be said. Pretty anything you see in game from the NPCs and the game world itself is canon. There is a spider cult in the Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah. They can like all other cults in those locations can use their zeal to form Avatars. Whether that cult is related to the one in Conan and the Spider-God is unknown. It could be the same cult, it might be a different one. Or the cult in that story may not even exist in the Conan Exiles canon and Funcom made up their own and omitted the events in that story.
This thread sent me down a rabbit hole of Conan canon. My assumption had been that the comics established the mainstream lore based on old books written by Howard. I didn’t know his first works were actually essays.

Is a pretty decent starting point. Those Epub files work on Kindle as well.
Right on, thank you!
I just want my stupid lasers back at this point.
However, I would also die for religious armors closer to some of the concept art.
And so much for suggestions for an Age of Gods
Why are you sure that the next Age will be the Age of Gods?
I didn’t say it was going to be, didn’t even imply it. This started as suggestions for a possible age of gods. Then, as forum threads are prone to doing, went off on a tangent.
