Repeated crashes

Game mode: Online Official
Type of issue: Repeated fatal crashes
Server type: PVE
Region: North America

Game keeps crashing and gives me fatal error. I do have AMD card and I read about the alt tabbing that could be an issue, so I would never even open a browser while playing Conan Exiles, much less alt tab out. I always reboot the PC whenever I get the fatal error crash, but my game still crashes every hour or two.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. I have no idea how to reproduce it. It happens randomly and I often end up dying because of it.

You don’t give us lot details more.

Yes, there was an AMD bug around, and some may still need the fix.

This is from an older post i saved on folder a time, you may try this, but do also some personal research.

I. AMD CPU + ONBOARD AUDIO (Realtek)
For everyone with AMD cpus who are having issues with alt-tabbing causing freezes, please do the following to eliminate the problem.

" If you have followed any of the previous workarounds posted in the forums, revert those changes. (For example restoring XAudio2_7.dll if you have removed it)

Locate your Engine.ini file, which should be found in your ConanExilesInstallPath>/ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini folder.

Example:
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/ConanExiles/ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini

Edit it in notepad, and add the following to the end of the file:

[/script/engine.audiosettings]
bDisableMasterEQ=True
Save the file, and start the game. You should no longer experience freezes when alt tabbing.
We plan to make this an ingame client setting in a future patch.

Save the file, and start the game. You should no longer experience freezes when alt tabbing. "

Then let me say, that i run myself AMD, and alt-tab lot. My game doesn’t crash often at all, and i have very few issues compared to some players. My game is mostly very stable and doing fine.

So give a try, or post us more infos.

Thanks but aside from computer specs there is no more information that I can give unless you want technical details, which I would need help with. As for the solution you provided I haven’t tried it because I never alt-tab out as I had noted in my original post. Do you suggest that I try it anyway even though I don’t alt-tab out? Note that I’ve already checked the “integrity” of the files through Steam and also uninstalled and reinstalled the game before.

All drivers also up-to- date i suppose ?

And fun thing, nearly my card to. So honestly bit out of clue without that. You run intel, i run AMD to…

  • gamefiles check
  • driver check
  • other hardware checks, like memories, or powersupply
but then you should also experience problems elsewhere i imagine, but we never know

Did you try on a server without BE to see if the crashes happens to, also in singleplayer ? Just a wild guess, but again, we never know.

Have you checked all eventual softwares, like anti-vire, anti-spy, firewall, and make sure the game is allowed correctly ? There can still be some updates here to.
Other software like streaming-tools, clouds and more fancy stuff ?

I use Windows Defender for anti-virus and I don’t have any fancy software. I think that maybe the processor and graphic card are not 100% compatible or something. I have no idea. Thing is I run other games just fine except for I remember Elder Scrolls Online.

whats the error code ?

Yes, window defender should not do bad things, still check it.

ESO, didn’t play that since… ages, so can tell you now.
Previously i have also ran AMD and nvidia, worked perfect fine, but yes, some combination some time don’t do well unfortunately.

Let’s hope somebody else have a great luminous idea or fix for you. Can just wish you good luck !

I didn’t think to post the problem I have until I got to work today. I’ll have to take a look at home.

okay, with the error code we can come up with a solution ;). also try and do a fresh driver install amd tend to be weird when you upgrade. also see what temp ur gpu and cpu have when this error happends.

Yeah I haven’t played it for years myself. Sold that account for $300 actually, which was a steal considering what I had. Anyway thanks and I’m going to do some basic checks again when I get home. Maybe I missed something. All other games I have never crashes, not even once. So I think I can rule out hardware issues.

P.S. With ESO I went above and beyond (countless hours trying to fix it) and the game still crashed, which is why I ended up quitting the game. Nothing worse than crashing when you are about 5~10% health away from killing the final boss of VMA (Veteran Maelstrom Arena) three times in a row.

Here’s the image of the crash.

Not really a scoop, we all now this screen mostly.

But thanks for the info. Try send it to Funcom with most details you have still when this happens.

Game or server log would be more helpfull if ever. It’s in the save folder.
But if game isn’t ever coming up, there will be much anyway.
