Request for a Backup File Transfer From an Official to a Private Server

I have an unusual request I would like to make of Funcom. However, I have been told this has been done before successfully by a friend who is a long time Conan Exiles player. I believe this would be beneficial to all parties involved including financially beneficial to Funcom.

After my pyramid was devwiped the other day along with part of the teleport nexus, this affected a large number of people on server 1053 negatively. Additionally, after word of the devwipe spread, a number of people have either decided to quit 1053 altogether or cease construction projects there and stop their normal activities only to login to refresh timers out of fear of a wipe of their own. These include at least half a dozen long time players who have been there for years. Others meanwhile plan to stay but say they do not intend to be actively involved in the game there anymore, including people who had wanted to work on building projects of their own.

Furthermore, these same people as of yesterday said they were no longer interested in purchasing anymore Bazaar and Battlepass items after and because of the pyramid devwipe incident. These were long time active players who had purchased items from both in the past but were either upset over the decision or saw no reason to purchase future items now.

This is sad because we love a lot of the content Conan Exiles produces in the Bazaar and Battlepass. The trouble of course is that many of these items were being purchased to decorate other construction projects that players fear might now be defined as “too large.” For example, just before the wipe, I purchased the Battlepass specifically so that I could put the sarcophagus and other items into my now non-existent pyramid museum. The only trouble is that natural history museums I am told constitute “land claim abuse.”

Now that is how you make and enforce your rules, and that is of course your business. But it makes buying items like this in the future pointless to both myself as well as many of the other players on 1053, even though we would otherwise like to buy them.

So I have a proposal that I think will work for everyone. I purchased a private server yesterday and many of us want to take the game there, either because they want to build large cities and so on, or because of the teleport nexus situation (which was timer-locked to the pyramid) and has hurt the fast travel system there for everyone. And I would also like my pyramid back. And we would also like to have a reason to buy your Bazaar items again, which would of course benefit you as well.

So here is what I propose:

I have been told that in the past Funcom has been able to transfer backup files of the game from prior dates onto private servers through G-Portal. I would like to request a backup file from 9/21 (the day before the wipe) from server 1053 so that it can be transferred to the private server. Most of the people going there are long-time dedicated players, and I believe this would be beneficial to you at Funcom as well. How do I proceed with this request?

I totally agree with this. I’ve played on 1053 for about a year now and its really sad to see hard-work from people trying to make the server work well as a friendly community get wiped like this. Please Funcom, consider this proposal and help the affected players have their hard-work restored.

It would be great to see the Pyramids on a private server, and I’m sure a lot of the players would spend more in the bazaar if we could build as much as we want to on your own server. Hope this works out.

I also agree on what you said. The buildings and your transport system were a huge benefit to everyone on the server. As far as i know -everybody that stayed on the server for more than a couple of days loved and joined your idea of the travel-hub. It made life easier for us all and even players who didnt build their own teleporters -constantly used the existing ones for travelling.

Beyond that -the real loss is your pyramid and everything you built along with it. It was designed to entertain all players on that server. It was open to be visited by everyone and to admire the effort and time you put into this, -the fantastic decorations and the little quests and riddles you implemented in it. It must have taken you months in planning, decorating and getting all of the stuff needed together. The result was outstanding. And yet all of this you didnt only build for yourself, but for everyone on the server. If it was a friend or not -all were able to enter it and take a look at your work.

I hate to see this deleted. It took a massive chunk of fun out of there. And its not only you that is affected by it -we all lost. Everybody on 1053 is missing your buildings.

Im wondering why all of the sudden this has happened. -But since it did, -the server is not what it was anymore. I hope Funcom would transfer a backup to your private server if that is possible. Losing everything like that is a punishment so severe -wondering if this will leave the rest of the players unaffected, -I myself am unsure of wanting to put more effort in my building there if I can never be sure that suddenly I placed a bazaar item or two to many and find out that everything was wiped.

Please Funcom, -if you can do anything for her and about her request -make a bunch of Conan-fans happy.

Love.

-D.

Can one of the admins from Funcom please respond to this or pass it along to someone in your company that can take care of it? I am told that this is not difficult to do but it has to be done sooner than later as I know you do not keep backups forever.
