We are now forced to use the HUGE dying station if we want to dye our armor. Several of us have asked for smaller (improved) workstations and have requested a much smaller dying station for those of us who build smaller bases. Now that we are required to use the dye station, which is massive, can we finally get a smaller version? I’d like to see one that is one square. Maybe a vat, the overhead drying rack and that’s it. Please consider this.

Interestingly enough, “huge dyeing station” is what they used as an excuse for the dying system (pun intended) they made.

I use a mod I made that works “more or less” like that “Fashionista” or “Fashoin Exiles” or something like that, so I dont really see use for the station for myself. But I was really curious to understand the though process on that change.

It is like:
Ok, lets make a huge station to make dyes.
The station is too big !
Ok, lets make the station useful then.

News flash:
A lot of stations are too big to “nail” in a base.

Lets address the situation in a more “game theory way”:

If you are playing a game, be it PvP or PvE, the “footprint” of your base is a concern. IT is not consuming space in a “useful manner” that counts, but consuming space in a “useful efficient manner”. So there is no single reason to force the use of a station because it is too big being a rational that slightly makes sense.

If I have the “luxury” of space, I am not concerned if the station is used for something else but crafting.

Imagine, as if were playing an RPG, or having a “immersive” scenario, that I build a base. And I have one of those “casting” stations, a tannery, and an alchemy advanced station. Only that is already “space consumed enough” to tank my “use per foundation unity”.

While someone in their first base will have like 2 or 3 ratio for foundation unit in useful space, having more space inherently means I am tanking my useful space per foundation unit to half, because end game stuff requires more stations to make, and those stations which are used to make stuff are bigger for no actual reason.

And that in turn will increase the space I need to wall, man and care.

It is not “having a station that only serves as a crafting station” that will make any difference in that equation. And it is not immersive either.

Think of it:
Do I take my car to the paint factory to paint it ?
Do I dye my hair in the cosmetics factory ?
Do I go to the surface of the sun to get a tan ?

Why should I need to go to the dye crafting station to dye the gear ?
For “logic purposes”, if anything, I would go to the Armor station to dye the armor.
