Bug Description:
So my latency on Fast.com is 21 milliseconds (17 Mbps) on Exile servers it varies from 48 to 100 milliseconds. Before 3 weeks ago there was no lag or rubber-banding at all no matter what. Now on the two east coast servers I have been on for about 18 months so far there is rubber-banding so bad the game is almost unplayable and it takes about 10 to 15 minutes before I can harvest rocks and wood and I just walk through rocks and wood as if they are not there for that time. Nothing else is running or downloading and the rubber-banding is just as bad in say the ‘Warmaker’s Dungeon’ as near player built bases or in harvesting areas. Two other players report the same rubber-banding in the last 3-4 weeks.
Have server resources been cut in expectation of the server trimming which is now on hold?
Steps to Reproduce:
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. Please be as detailed as possible; the more details, the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Step 1 - I guess try gameplay on servers on the east coast US from the west coast. It was working fine for me for previous 18 months, last 3-4 weeks unplayable rubber-banding etc. No change in latency to server though. About 88-100 milliseconds.
Also, and I have never seen this before the last 3 weeks.
1.-The night takes what seems double the amount of time and suddenly it is noon with the sun overhead.
2.-When I log in, the Clan page is blank, but I am in a Clan. It’s blank when I am with my clan-mates as well. This lasts about 15 minutes and if I check followers it says I am over the 65 follower limit for a solo player clan in red. So far no followers have been deleted.
These are both server side, so not my connection. In fact, I can play on EU servers in other games with no visible lag.
Then I see this new purge on large player bases and this seems odd too. Sudden sickening lag where there was never any before and suddenly player bases are being deleted if they are too large. (Mine are not by the way.) Well, I know you are trimming servers too, presumably cutting those resources that allowed them to run, but those servers have not been trimmed. You may have a problem with that. But I don’t know.
Here’s a short video of the gameplay lag in an area with no player buildings. This is 1516. About 30 minutes after logging on with me being the only player character in the area. The rubber-banding is about 5 times worse with one other player, PvP is impossible. As you can see I run through rocks and trees and cannot harvest them. Eventually I can, maybe 45 minutes after starting but the rubber-banding never gets better.
hmmm, okay, I can’t upload videos to your web page. You’ll just have to use your imagination I guess. I have described it pretty well. Things rubber-band about 10 to 20 feet in combat.
Here is a clue for you though. In the first half hour logged in, if the sun goes down the Moon lags across the sky for 10 to 15 minutes, but if I check what players are on the sun suddenly comes up and appears at high noon in full daylight. My latency when this happens is 88 ms according to the log-in server page.
Well, good luck,. It started about the time that the server trim was put on hold and does not affect west coast servers. Not at all even though the latency can be roughly the same. Only affects Conan Exiles.
ahh, it has improved. The moon no longer lags out and I can harvest rocks and trees as soon as the game loads. However, combat is still all rubber-banding.
