I love how people talk about a game like it was a “nation”, and complain at the same time game publishers and developers act like a government.
Transparency ? About what ? If they talk about the development (which they do, and 90% of the people posting here doesnt even know where to find it), it would not be on the radar for most people posting.
Even if you are not modding, this tells you how the game systems work:
You can track staff posts like this:
https://forums.funcom.com/g/funcom/activity/posts
On discord you have a feed in which the devs publicly list all the assets in the game are changed, and everything that is changed in a very detailed form.
But you cant expect to have ZERO knowledge of development and at the same be updated in each detail about development.
That is what is an utopia fuelled by stupid political rhetoric circling around.
This reminds me of those ludicrous posts people made saying “X game needs to be free to play, we need to democratize the access”.
Or that many people who thinks “filling a game with players” is the objective of a BUSINESS.
There is such thing as COST PER PLAYER, and it is high. It is very similar to the idea that stores should seek the “most costumers”, which also reflects “cost per costumer”.
Same problems there: If too many costumers go to a store, it needs more service people, more service installations, more service materials. It needs faster customer care, service and attention. It requires mediation for faster case by case analysis, and all that “good stuff”.
So no, half of what people say business “should care”, they really shouldnt.
