So you know how in Sepermeru human NPCs are passive, they don’t attack you unless you attack someone first, except for thieves.
You also probably know that if you attack thieves, defend yourself against them, the rest of Sepermeru will come hunt you down.
The thing you may not know, is that with the addition of Stray Cats (which you can grab and tame for decoration), slaying those cats does not trigger anything.
I am very concerned at the sense of morality from the Sepermeru NPCs who will side with thieves when you just defend yourself, while if you slaughter an innocent kitten, they don’t care whatsoever
If someone kills a Stray Cat in Sepermeru, I want the entire city chasing them down relentlessly with no leash range (and maybe even Conan joining in, lol), because poor innocent cat, I swear

They don’t like the cats hurting their snakes.

Cats were often considered pests in medieval times - sometimes even associated with the Devil.
That’s no excuse, though. I think it would be fair to get a solid beating from Conan if you attack a cat.
Also, it seems that the corrupted people of Sepermeru are in league with the bandit gangs. It kinda annoys me when they team up against me - especially if I’m not the one who started the brawl.

Punching camels is an offense that’ll send you in the Exiled Land to rot on a cross or in Siptah Island to drown in a tempest.
Good citizen don’t punch camels because they’re respectful of the law.

Who would think of killing a poor cat???
Seriously though, I guess it’s because she gets killed in one hit. If the bandit could be killed with one blow, the result would be the same, IMHO.
I’ve had a single bandit follow me and I one shot him… The result was the usual, with passive NPCs getting angry at me
The things that made cats precious to Egyptians would likely make them abhorrent to Setites.
An interesting paradox.
They compete with serpents for food
They may even fight serpents
But is Sepermeru really a Setite city?
There are snake cultists…
But there’s also Conan sitting a couple blocks away at the Titty Twister.
Personally, this one would rather the good folk of the treasure hunter city not aggro when a bandit gets offed in front of them.
Also, why are these scum not thrallable again?
Once they had impressive stats, but certainly that’s not the case anymore?
Conan and Snake Cultists aren’t mutually exclusive. He doesn’t bother them and they don’t bother him. He doesn’t particular care for anyone, good or ill in the Exiled Lands aside from Razma and a slight curiosity towards the PC.
And the Princess from the slab.
But is that more an aversion to Sorcery or an affection for Royal romps?
Conan is a man of simple pleasures.

If you kill a villager then the other villager’s will seek revenge.
But if you kill a cat then

They know what’s what. Cats are evil and should be purged from society before they develop thumbs.

Thank you, now I know where this cat doing his nails comes from, finally XD
But have you seen those episodes of Love Death and Robots?
About what happened after the cats evolved thumbs?
I only saw the episode about a civilization evolving in the freezer.
There are some very good episodes.
Do strongly suggest
One of them is a speculative fiction set after cats evolved thumbs.
Season 1 has an episode of it, may be others.
Based on Howard’s stories, both explanations seem very much like Conan.
