Very nice UE5 update and all, but if the servers are going to stay this laggy because of these changes, I honestly think many of us would rather go back to UE4.
The lag right now is insanely high, and that says a lot considering many of us were already used to playing with some level of server lag on officials. But this time it really went too far hahaha.
Talking with friends, we came up with a couple theories about what might be causing the performance issues:
-
Living Settlements still being enabled.
This was already proven to be problematic on official servers. Thralls constantly moving around bases creates unnecessary server load and pathfinding calculations everywhere. -
Shared inventory between chests/workstations.
Good idea on paper and a nice quality-of-life feature, but if this is what’s causing the massive server performance drop, I would honestly rather carry materials manually or leave them inside benches than deal with the current unplayable lag.
The LATAM servers seem to be the most affected, or maybe it is simply because they are more active compared to some NA servers. But the difference is noticeable.
It would be appreciated if you could test disabling those two systems temporarily since both should be relatively easy to adjust from the server configuration side. If performance does not improve, then at least we can continue identifying the real source of the lag.
This is also happening on brand-new servers, including the two new LATAM servers that replaced the old ones: 1979 and 1980.
