Game mode: Online Official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PVP
I’ve noticed at times when you give a Thrall the Nemedian helmet and begin to whack away at them to repair weapons, this in turn creates client-side and server-side ping load(s). Server FPS drops to 2 FPS and Pings escalate to above 1024. Soon, not just you the player are teleported below or nearby where you were last swinging but the entire server population does as well.
Several players tonight died when it occured.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
- Give thrall nemedian helmet
- Ensure thrall holding weapon.
- Hit the thrall over and over during a Maelstorm.
- Wait for players to glitch through walls or floors.
This issue doesn’t always happen either. Its usually when 10 or more people are on. I also suspect this is likely an attack vector for meshers, as I can see how easily this could be abused to transport behind landscape / terrains.
The issue existed prior to the latest hotfix, at the time i assumed it was due to someone else in the maelstorm cheesing the mobs. Now thats fixed, i can only assume its link somehow to the Nemedian Helmet combined with the storm (feels like a thread leak even though I noticed no CPU/GPU gains client-side).
This could also be linked to the bug where a player mentioned they were under a lake and suddely sent flying into the wall(s)…
