A classic to be sure. Far too many years ago one of my aunts mentioned the original Sounds of Silence as one of her favorite songs which was the first I’d ever heard of it. I remarked that it seemed like a silly name. She said, Well, you’ll just have to hear it.
Indeed.
She introduced me to Carol King and many others as well. So very 70’s. She was a manager at a radio station in those days and I ended up as a DJ there for a time. That might explain some things.
Some years ago I heard Business Time on the radio but it was never said who the band was. One day YouTube came along and in searching the title I discovered Flight of the Concords. New Zealand’s fourth ranked folk parody band… Their deadpan humor and musical talent were a win/win for me.
Business Time seems to be their most popular/known song though imo it’s not their best.
Thinking 'bout those issues
The Humans are Dead
Plenty more silly stuff where those came from. These guys were also involved and had parts in some of the lotr and Men in Black movies.
Bonus song that approaches lightning in a bottle status in style and uniqueness. Their “instruments” are old timey video editing tools with the implication that they are creating/editing the video in real time as it’s watched.
Caught up on the abomination thread today. It had been a while. I see Chicken Attack was posted not just once but twice there. Le whoops. Forum faux pas r us.
Since I’m here… This could be my theme song.
I had seen this one, from the same group, on MTV way too long ago then randomly stumbled over it on YouTube one day. Deja Vu all over again.
I don’t recall any Nightwish posts but that may just be me. My intro to Nightwish was via a Hellgate London fan made trailer that used the Nemo intro as the outro of the video. I was interested enough to look the song up afterwards.
This video to be exact. Though this song by Sabaton has already been linked. It’s worthy of a double.
Nemo
Tarja from Nightwish plus Within Temptation did this one.
To be honest most of their stuff isn’t really my thing but I did like their Imaginaerum movie and accompanying soundtrack. Was very fitting though the project as a whole was more of a Secret World type of thing.
