I love the windows and crenulated walls. reminds me of the trick using the stable frames with the windows…have you tried to use stable frames windows and the crenulated walls? Is it even possible to have 3 things like that taking up the same space?

Surprisingly, crenelated walls and fences will attach to the top of any full-height piece.

Saddly no in vanilla. This system has its limits. Without mods like Less Building Placement Restrictions you will need to use the stable doorframe trick in order to allow a window or wall to share the space with a crenulation. With mods you can simply build a wall and the crenulation will directly snap on it.
There are other mods around that come with their own meshes and that meshes will allow you to do some more stuff, severall walls close next to eachother, 2 tall gateways and so on. While I honor and respect the creativity of the modders for me I want my buildings to last, even when I deside to remove my mods one day or when a mod stops working. So I try to stay in the normal game mode possibilities, although I use LBBR for a little convinience. When I build I mostly do it for hours and this mods keeps me sane, because its a lot of try and error and fiddeling around.
What is possible to also use is the stair trick to combine pillars, crenulation and the “balcony” pieces or roofs in general. I will post a picture later today of what I mean when I am back from work.
I hope I could explain it well enough with my english.
Ps: a seperate building tricks and tipps thread would be nice, so we do not spam this one to much.

I made this statement based on past experiences with them. With the changes to the building system, they no longer attach to walls at the base. To confirm this, I unloaded all the mods I use in the current Retail Build (live game). I did notice that anything placed before the current building system was implemented did stay in place. I also noticed that the ones I had placed using a mod stayed in place.

It looks very beautiful.
@erjoh,
I finally got the time to play and to make the promissed screenshot. Work got in the way. I am sorry.
This balcony is sharing 3 building pieces on one ceiling. I use the staircase trick to place the pillars on the sides and added the fence and the arch. If I wanted to I could still add the stable frame because I have not build a wall so the space is left free.
Its always either a wall or a frame on one spot. Pillars do not count as wall or frame. This is shown on the next screenshot.
Here you can see I have build the stable frame and fence and added the pillar last to give it the look of a bigger window.
Also 2 screenshots of my new treb tower. The tower is connected to both sides of the wall and I have in plan to store my collection of thralls in it. I try to capture as many named thralls as I can. I am obsessed with collecting thralls. Can´t help myself.

Damn I really need to work on my design skills. My building creativity was centered on pvp, efficiency and hidden that I really let the aesthetics drop off. These are awesome

Ain’t that true. These past months were extremely busy for me, i am not complaining, but i find my self now to sleep more than the usual.
@erjoh this is the awesome part of this game. You may play it for years and “never” tried this or that.

Love the beach.
Not done, I want to upgrade what I have done before I finish the front ramparts.
Trying to stock up on mercenary arches while I can still buy them.

Love it, man. Very well built, @prologue1337 ! Will you use it to play or is it just decorative? Because it seems usable at a glance.

I am done headscratching with @prologue1337

. A few monts ago she uploaded a build that was using great animal pens for wall perimeter to her build, in a perfect way on a perfect landscape of the game!
This topic has some builders who know how to use literally everything from their building menu and do something that will drop my jaw on the ground.
Congratulations to literally everyone, truly!
