This is a computing issue and not the game per say.
It doesent matter if you have played other no-synch games with good result, this game have to many elements to have a poor connection.
Best case.
Server needs a ssd and needs to be on ethernet.
Second:
Server on ethernet and other clients on wifi 2.4ghz.
Third:
Server and clients all on 2.4ghz wifi.
I dont read that you have tested any of this, exept you say it didnt resolve the issue?
How can you tell if you didnt try?
I am telling you this with best intention, as i know a dedicated server here runs fine, and i had 4 servers on the same machine at one point just to test, and my findings are that a lower but stable speed allways is better.
I dont know if it is of any relevance to compare a building game with thousands of moving parts to a shoote, its a totally different setup thats needed, allthoug all other games will for sure benefit froma stable connection.
The conan game do not use a lot of bandwith, but again, make it stable.
In most cases it should be possible to test this, as you say the server is on a laptop and thereby movable.
I would say that for 3 clients on a dedicated server dont need more then 10mbs to be sure if its stable.
When running at max speeds e.g 5ghz you will experience massive amounts of pockeloss, wich in turn results in a wery choppy game.
Both the client and server will have this problem.
You can also try fiddling with the server framerate, but in normal cases it shouldnt be necessry.
Why not try, just to be sure?
Its the best way to do it:)
Good luck.
