The Swan dive or the parkour roll on floor animation which was added during the age of sorcery chapters was great. I use the swam dive all the time now even on ground and especially to dive off cliffs.
Having said that. Would it be great also if we players had a slide function also added to characters where the character can slide when player presses the crouch key or button (c), while sprinting?
And pressing the crouch key or button again will immediately make character stand up and continue sprinting as long as the forward movement key was still being held.
swam dive or parkour flip, when you click on a key after the jump…
Similarly a ‘slide’ function, when we click on C key or crouch button during a sprint, which triggers the character or player to slide (can also be controlled to stop if crouch button is pressed again, which make player stand up)
Slide distance - probably just enough to avoid a hit form an enemy or npc or even another player. Something like a dodge roll at the right timing. May be the slide can have like 2x or 3x the distance of a normal dodge roll & can also be used as an alternative for dodging too.
Kinda creates a nice opportunity for some tactical gameplay and may be also somewhat of a stealth move to slide and crouch behind a fence or window frame wall.
Function: (while sprinting), press C (crouch button) to perform a slide animations. this automatically puts the player into a crouch position after the slide function. pressing C (crouch button) during the slide function will immediately make player get back up from slide. it can also be used to continue the sprint in case the sprint function is active (toggle function) and the forward movement key is being held still after the slide + back up again function by clicking C during sprint and C again while in slide function.
This can also function as a small knock down function of the slide as well if it connects with an enemy or npc or another player (pvp)… does not do too much damage since its and unarmed slide.
Another function is with weapons in hand. This gives an opportunity for amazing sliding melee hits or melee spinning slide hits on ground (preferably triggered by clicking on left mouse button or doing a light or heavy attack during slide)
Light attack during a slide = simple slash hit (bladed edge weapons) or simple knock back (from blunt weapons) which can make npcs fall to ground.
Heavy attack during slide = higher damaging spinning hit. damage dependent on weapons light and heavy damage outputs.
Block button during slide = NOT needed since the slide function itself is a type of a dodge and if timed correctly, then can avoid hits (depends on iframes given for the time of invulnerability during the slide).
Unarmed slides into enemies or npc or other players = knock down to ground (human npc types, mostly it looks like they were being tripped and they’d fall to ground)
Unarmed slides to creatures = depending on creature size they woudl either get pushed back or staggered a little bit, or if its a giant creature, then… wel… your in bug trouble haha. (cos you cant just push a giant dragon back with a slide kick obvio)
So this was an idea or feedback I had for a player function that could be added or implemented into the game just like how the swan dive or the parkour flip roll whatever its called, was added back during age or sorcery.
Most game do have this yes, but it would be a good addition I think with the functions from the slide I mentioned above.
