So with the new slower rolls

I watched the dev stream and saw the new bs roll they were doing. Im use to fighting in heavy armors with havoc and malice. I dont remember seeing anything about it, but are they doing anything with the backflip from using daggers. The roll and poke is probably gonna become subpar. As is i see everyone using those throwing axes more than i see it already. Im predicting with the slow roll the spear will become less attractive.

The back flip was not referenced, and i believe it will remain as is. so back flip away!!!

Those who implemented new roll aren’t aware of backflip :grinning:

Thats probably the case

Because you want to run away from a PvP fight? Switch to daggers and backflip away and the new roll is obsolete

I assume this was one of the points of the update. As far as I’ve understood fropm PvP players’ forum posts, a big problem in PvP has been that escaping is too easy and that’s why spears (and claws) have been so dominant weapons of choice - they can be used to catch runners.

It remains to be seen what effect the change has on the actual meta.

I for one HATE fighting with a spear. its utterly boring to me. Not to say it didnt work. I just hate the playstyle and feel of it.

While I agree with the escape, spear problem, I don’t like the solution Funcom came up with. The Animation looks weird and artificially slow. Its the complete opposit to the animation of the new horses with I instantly fall in love with.

I understand this. Out of all weapons in the game, the spear is the most realistic. Real combat with sharp weapons is quite minimalistic - broad swings are draining, often leave the wielder vulnerable, and are usually unnecessary because the cutting edge is supposed to do the work for you. But those circular swings, dance steps and pirouettes look cool and cinematic, which is why game developers tend towards them.
