Softer footsteps and standing still while building please

Two of my biggest irritations so far is footstep sounds that are out of sync with the actual foot movement. The character shifting weight from one foot to the other while idling should not warrant a footstep sound (the same goes for thralls). Also the footsteps are just too loud, it sounds like a drunk combat boot wearing clown stumbling home from the circus. I’m wearing soft leather boots, I shouldn’t sound like that!

My second irritation is that when I’m building my castle, my character cannot stand still at all. It makes precise placement really difficult because it is always head bobbing/swaying/shifting weight, etc. It forces me to go into admin mode and fly to stop the effect.

And technically this is a 3rd irritation, but it’s a direct result from the 2nd. When I’m in admin mode, I have to deal with the sitting lotus pose, and no way to change it that I can find. The pose is amusing, and I definitely get why it’s used, but there’s a minor detail - it’s hands are in the way! They are on the edges of the first person view, so you can’t see if you’re about to overlap another object. When I zoom the camera out into 3rd person view, well now I can’t see the object because the sitting lotus pose makes my character take up the whole center of the screen and now I can’t even see what block I’m holding at all! If there’s a way to change the pose, I can’t find it. It would be really nice if we could have a hotkey to change the pose.

If you’re not already doing it, I recommend making sure you have nothing equipped (unfortunately this includes repair hammer and torch), then toggle into first person view. I think it’s ‘P’ on the PC version. I’ve found when I need precise placement, this gives me the best results with minimal bobbing around.

Play first person when you build and when you organize inside the house and your problems will be minimized.
