Suggestion: Automate Sorcerer use for Sacrificial Stone blood and soul collection

@Jimbo For you to say I play at 10x rates just goes to show the poor judgment of characther that you are. But you are certainly willing to push your opinion on everybody, don’t you? Even when you clearly don’t understand what’s being discussed.

What the heck does a fixed 30s animation has to do with time investiment. You are the kind of people that make the cooldown features in games a thing. Cooldowns are not fun. Learn this. You have no clue what makes a game fun, it seems.

I can see jimbo’s point. He is looking at it from an overall system and the intent behind it. There is a time for tedium in certain circumstances. I tend to agree with you on this point though that it could be done your way without breaking the intent of the system.

It’s a one time bonk and done. After that you’ve got your time saving items available instantly, saving even further time.

You don’t seem to understand my point and instead are going on the defensive yourself.

Sacrifices are a transferrence of time. If you’d read my previous post you’d know that the usages of the blood save you immense amounts of time once you have them. You instead spend that time now collecting the blood.

Would it be any less tedious to make the run of shame to go get your body on death? Would you save more time by running across the map instead of teleporting?

Sorcery allows you to use time itself as a resource. You can bank it now for convenience later. If they just removed that entirely and make it purely convenience, sorcery would cease being an option and instead become a necessity.

I never brought up stone and I will not entertain the discussion of gathering rates for any other resource.

The topic is on obtaining vials of sacrificial blood. The point is, sorcery is sorcery. Its its own thing. You are required to draw the blood of your victim to perform profane rites. This is required of the user and not some random thrall because you are drawing the power you intend to use for it.

The master draws the power, the underlings get the scraps if anything at all. Not the other way around.

The animation when using the Sacrificial Stone is cool. It really is. The first 10 times you use it. After the 50th time it’s annoying and now over 2000 slit throughs in it’s tedious as all hell. I propose putting the sorcerer thralls to work. Make it so they can do the blood sacrifice ritual for you. Even if it takes them a little bit longer (like idk 10%) to do it on their own. Maybe an option to skip the cinematic but take the same anount of time, or as suggested do sacrifice and blood in jar automatic without you having to be there.

One thing I find interesting about these threads and I believe its the second or third if not more about it, is that its always about the blood and not the soul essence. We need as much soul essence as blood in many cases.

So that tells me the animation, the time, and whatnot is NOT the issue people have. But the one I brought up earlier. Right now knocking out a NPC, chaining them to the altar, slitting their throat or taking their soul, and then absorbing the corruption is NOT the problem.

Its doing all that and then having to open the altar, and craft the blood in there into a vial. Soul essence has no such post combine. You do the ritual, and it takes a flask and fills it with the soul. No one complains about that.

Only the blood. And the weird thing about the blood is it allows you to select it with sacrifice as a subcombine like most tiered recipes. But there is only a single crafting slot so it fails the combine if you try to skip.

Lets remove that last step and merge it with the ritual. So that it works like this:

You drag a thrall to the altar.
Chain them to it.
Cut their throat in a profane manner.
Blood fills the bowl.
You do a little ritualistic motion.
Get corrupted.
Get your blood.

Basically cutting out, the open the altar and craft the blood portion after getting corrupted. Only change needed is remove the blood to vial recipe, add glass flask to blood ritual like soul essence does.

That alone will make it half as tedious as it is. You still have to do the deed, you still have to take the time of the ritual. You just don’t have mechanical unimmersive busy work. Its a win win for everyone.

I did not realize you had such narrow understanding of a simple concept.
The thrall would take the same time as you to do the same task. So, the issue has nothing to do with time, but simply about forcing yet another boring cooldown on the player, which you seem to be very fond of.
Maybe you could request the loading screen took more time? So we could really appretiate what it means to play Conan? Perhaps 20 minutes would suffice to you?

I would very strongly disagree with this. And although my rationale for disagreeing with this also diverges slightly, my perspective aligns with @Jimbo. I do not want to see this become an automated process.

I think herein lies your issue. It’s not a problem that needs solving.

As Jimbo has said, this is not a problem. Furthermore, I completely acknowledge and agree with the lore side of the argument which he has demonstrated. Rituals are calculated, methodical and require precision and preparation to confer power to the person performing the ritual.

And this is my own personal perspective. For quite literally years now, I have been pleading with Funcom to to add more brutality, gore and overall ‘evil’ to Conan Exiles. At last I am not simply capturing NPCs and forcing them into sertitude. Now I can finally ritualistically slash their throats, steal their souls and bury them alive. And I personally, do not wish to lose the ability to do that. It is for these reasons (among others) that I absolutely LOVE the sorcery update, and I do not wish to lose my ability to perform these mechanics. Am I a tyrannical monster? Yep, probably. But these are some of my favourite parts of the game, and I for one am loving it.

I would say that more importantly, we do not wish pretenders (those who cannot stomach the actions or otherwise be bothered to take part in them) to be able to use the same powers and abilities.

Why stop there then? Why not have a thrall go gather all our resources for us? Why not have a thrall build our base for us? Maybe you’d like a thrall to feed and dress you every morning and wipe when you’re done.

You’re the protagonist, your actions lead to your accomplishments. If that’s not how you see it, this game isn’t for you.

Correct, it’s up to the individual person to determine if the game is for them or not. Sometimes they need to be reminded that not every game is.

That’s a dangerous precipice to defend.

If I wanted laser guns and I made a thread arguing with anyone and everyone who disagreed with me, does that make my opinion valid? Should my opinion be seriously considered no matter how outlandish and ill-fitting it is? When do we draw the line?

When I tell people the game isn’t for them, it’s not to flat out reject their opinon; it’s to say it doesn’t fit for this game, and they could and should seek a different game that may be better suited for what they’re after.

For lore reasons and for balance reasons, the animation and time investment should stay.

In fact, the soul extracting ritual finishes too quickly and they need to address that to be more consistent with blood. More effects would be good too, the body merely mummifying isn’t as impressive as I had expected for such an eldritch act.
