I’ve been really enjoying returning to Conan Exiles, especially with the newer systems like sorcery and golems. While playing, one area that still feels unnecessarily tedious is inventory management during base building, and I’d like to suggest a potential improvement.
Currently, the building flow tends to look like this:
-
Go to the location where I want to build
-
Open my inventory and realize I’m missing required materials
-
Return to a storage chest or vault to collect those materials
-
Go back to the build location and resume construction
This loop becomes quite repetitive, especially for larger builds or when working across multiple structures within a base.
A possible quality-of-life improvement would be a centralized inventory access system within a defined base radius. For example, if a player is within their base, they could draw materials directly from nearby storage (such as chests or vaults) when:
-
Using the construction hammer
-
Crafting at workbenches
-
Repairing structures or items
This wouldn’t remove the need for storage organization, but it would significantly reduce unnecessary back-and-forth movement and streamline the building experience.
Many survival and crafting games have implemented similar systems with great success, as they allow players to focus more on creativity and planning rather than inventory juggling.
Overall, this change could greatly improve the quality of life for builders without affecting game balance in a significant way.
Thanks for considering the suggestion!
