Suggestion: Remove Bombs

Decay on bombs and dragon power is another possible solution. I don’t mind so much that they are effective, that you can stockpile enough to level a base indefinitely is more my problem.

So true. I’ve already seen an uptick in beehive stacking as a result of the fence stacking judgement. Content creators get your vids out before FC figures it out!

The obvious issue is bombs. Most to all issues stem from their use and the buildng issues we see aside from foundation spam against trebs. Bombs are the tool used by players who don’t want to siege a base or pvp on a pvp server.

Any real player would know that bombs work quite a bit differently when DBD is turned on. Its quite a bit tougher to bomb a door or wall when the owners are trying to kill you.

You might want to try the game with different settings before claiming what needs a rework. This is one of the weaknesses of players who only play and only see one facet of the game. Adjusting or even removing explosive jars from the game can have far reaching consequences beyond one set of server settings.

Its best to handle this in the server settings. Let’s not affect 100% of the playerbase with an issue that affects less than 10%

No, no, Barnes had it correct.

Making a change for 10% of the community that affects 100% of the community, wasting dev time and resources, when all it takes is a text file edit instead, is utterly 100% the wrong answer. Period.

really? Stop spoiling the game and learn to play Conan. If you don’t like the game as it is, play something else and let those of us who like the game play as it was designed.

It’s hard to make it clear to people who don’t actually play the game that bombs are neither ideal nor very fun.

I will admit though, grinding, crafting and placing an explosive to kill a star metal node seems kind of … off? Not exactly the return on investment I’d hope for. And as for anti-personnel, to kill a horde of Purge maniacs? Maybe tick off a couple of them. :man_shrugging:t4:

I play the game and I think they’re a blast!

Ha ha haaaa, but also very true!

Yep, perma mats are part of CE’s overall issues.

Since DBD will never be on for officials, referencing it is not helping discussion of how easy bombs make raiding.

They need a 2 sec animation after placement.
reduce interactive distance to ignite.

Make them onky ignitable by explosive arrows or ignite animation.

I mean people run around and use as a pvp weapon. That should show how easy to place they are.

Conspicuously I’m unhappy for the bombs’ easy (ready) placement in this way AND how poorly conceived they are vs personnel. It’s 1000% percent immersion-breaking when the bomb I lit goes off in my face and doesn’t chum me instantly while I’m hard-specced vs a castle.

People who don’t believe me need look no further than Ceronesthes’ raid videos. A bomb that takes a giant chunk out of a door’s life should have scalar damage vs soft matter too. Plenty of games have worked this out, and it would make the jar seem less like an afterthought. Or a bone they threw us.

Decaying Dragon powder? I’ve never considered that. I think I like it. Keeps people from stockpiling it in their inventory in huge stacks since it’ll just decay, forcing them to fill their inventory with bombs which weigh more but doesn’t decay.

Interaction animation, shorter placing distance, ignition only from other fire sources (explosive arrows, other bombs, demonfire orbs) are all good steps in the right direction

Bomb damage reduced by about 20% still seems fair to me.

ALSO I had a new idea: Move bomb production from personal inventory to something else. Maybe a special crafting station specific to dragon powder. It’d be like an artisan table, but for crafting booms. Move explosive arrows from carpenter’s bench, Bombs from inventory, Dragonfire Bombs (I think that’s what it’s called. The explosive Trebuchet ammo), and possibly Demonfire Orbs to this new table. Call the table something fitting, like “Bombadier Workstation” and if you place a thrall on it, it doesn’t gain any additional advantages similar to the Dyer’s station

Same thing was said about server merges. The solution was thankfully one that only affects the affected servers. Just like DBD would here. I mean if you think they will never do a text file edit, which I can show here:

DynamicBuildingDamage=False

to

DynamicBuildingDamage=True

And instead do an entire change in the devkit which cannot even be shown in the forums due to its text only based limitations. I’m not sure what to say to that. It doesn’t make logical sense.

I’m not against this, but there has to be many other considerations taken that is going to go far beyond the scope of this thread.

Sometimes you need to break up a shield wall. That’s typically what I have used them for in this sense.

But this thread shows a glaring problem with the mindsets of some PVPers. They think far too defensively. A good defense, is an overwhelming offense. Its why in the past when I’ve built for PVP, I’ve always built with the ability to attack. If someone is striking my base, I can at a moment’s notice get an alert from members on Discord (or Teamspeak/Ventrilo if we want to go back a few years in previous games). Login, and sally out to deal with the attackers.

The great thing about bombs being easy to place, is they are just as easy to take from an offending opponent and then zero out their own base with their own bombs. I’m not suggesting they should stay this way for this reason. I’m pointing out that it seems many of you are just either sitting inside your base and letting them come to you, or you’re not even bothering to login. Or have clanmates ready to defend on those times when you can’t.

Last time I played with offline raiding setups, we utilized people in different shifts or timezones to cover our butts. There wasn’t any raid timers on our server. You simply had to deal with the threat of raiding at anytime. Most of the time we dealt with it by raiding potential enemies first, and garnering a reputation that prevented people from wanting to try it to begin with.

But you all have the option of Dynamic Build Damage. Its literally right there.

But you all make thread after thread after thread about bombs, and raiding and whatnot. Not one of you has made a single thread about DBD. Make thread after thread about DBD.

Each one of you, right now, make a thread about DBD. I will post my support in every one of them that I can see and have a chance to post in. Well wait till I get home a bit later tonight incase some get locked. I would be sad to come home to a dozen locked threads I couldn’t even participate in.

i proposed moved to altars.
T1 would cost 4x dragon powder
t2 would cost 2x dragon powder
T3 as is now, but it also puts a huge target on the map. This would create pvp “zones” organically to destroy defend the bomb factoriies.

Hey! I don’t think the odds are that dire. I would say 90%.

I love it but I would make it a new placeable call it dragon’s furnace or something like that. The T1-3 is just like you spelled out but there is a size issue with it (like the furnaces now) and the type of building generates smoke that can be seen for a certain amount of distance (ie render distances change) T1 is half a square, T2 is 1 square, T3 is 3 squares. The smoke ignores terrain and building so you can’t cap it off and it provides the visibility without the need for religions…or maybe something cooler than that…make this Crom’s alters. You don’t get avatars, you get dragon powder.

I can concede to that. I was being a tad facetious.
