I’d ask what you consider “uglification of women” in games, but unfortunately I think I have an idea. Maybe I’m wrong. But I tend to find that a lot of the times when people say this, what they really mean is that women look real. They’re not all perfect 10s and may have scars or birthmarks, a gap in their teeth, freckles (gasp! omg!), a body shape that’s anything other than unnatural hourglass. There may even be an undercut (which, granted is a fairly common trend these days but in no way is an “uglification”). The people who usually take up this cry are so used to women being portrayed in video games as absolutely unnatural that anything less than is considered a politically motivated ploy and somehow ruins an entire game for them.
Meanwhile, some people like diversity. We want women who look strong (I think the first mod I installed for Mass Effect 3 was a buff femshep mod to give her the physique that actually made sense for someone of her training and skills). We may want to see a heroine who looks like someone we know, or ourselves (or can with character creation), or someone who is flawed and STILL the hero.
